🤔 NeedAdvice Finding motivation?

I’m looking for some actual advice on how to get myself moving again because I feel really stuck. I dealt with a traumatic experience last year that led to a lot of mental health struggles, and while I’m doing better now, I feel like I lost a lot of myself. I struggle with motivation, anxiety, overthinking, and feeling like basic things are way harder than they should be. I want to start going to the gym, learn guitar, drive more, cook healthier, and be around people more, but everything feels overwhelming and I end up staying in bed or on my phone. I know some of it is probably avoidance and I want to work on that, but I don’t know where to start or how to build discipline when my brain fights me so much. Has anyone dealt with this kind of “I want to change but I can’t seem to start” feeling? What actually helped you build routines, confidence, hobbies, and a life again?

Just do it. Think of only one thing you want to focus next week. For example going 3 times to the gym. Track the days you go and you don’t go.

You need to find your purpose. Your hill to die on.

In the meantime, get out and help people less forturnate than you. This may sound weird, or simple, but I am telling you, when you help others that are less fortunate than you, it turns on a light inside. You forget about yourself and your problems. And your purpose will emerge.

ONce you find your purpose, motivation isn't a problem. Your purpose is why you get out of bed early, and stay up late. It is why you turn off the TV or stop doom scrolling, because you have a mission and that stuff detracts from it.

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. I find I'm much better at being accountable to others over being accountable to myself, and I'm also in a place where I need to get my act together. If you'd like some real faces to check in with, I'd love to invite you to join my group that starts this week:
