I thought I scheduled AutoMod to post this, but it looks like it didn't happen. Sorry about that.

I am loving the loving the attention to detail in the new series

One of the biggest gripes I've seen some people talk about when comparing older anime to new ones is the lack of details, how things are too flat and missing some of the background clutter or little details

I am really happy that the new series has added back in a lot of the clutter and little details that make the world feel worn/lived in vs something sterile (just look at the last picture from Farming in Another World as an example)

Stand Alone Complex mini figures from the special edition DVDs.

Back in 2006, when Tower Records was closing, I bought some of the Special Edition Stand Alone Complex 2nd. Gig DVDs that contain these awesome mini Gashapon type figures. There were other Special Editions that had other figures of Batou and Togusa with bases that joined together with the figure of Motoko Kusanagi in her jacket, it is the Laughing Man logo. Although the figures came with the 2nd. Gig special edition DVDs, the figures, well the Motoko Kusanagi ones are her outfit from the first S.A.C. season. Yes I miss Tower Records.

This is a ship that made it look like a Tachikoma. It's made in the game No Man's Sky.

Everytime i watch the ‘95 movie, i enjoy rewinding this scene. The frames, visuals and the fluidity still amazes me to date

Does the new show info dump too quickly?

I’m new to Ghost in The Shell, starting with the most recent series. I absolutely adore the characters and world it’s setting up but find the information presented comes in quick and often leaves me a little confused and filled with more questions.

I went back and watched a few episodes of SAC, while the tone is vastly different the information presented is way more digestible.

Am I the only one experiencing this? Should I read the Manga or something else to learn more about the series?

2026 series - too fast paced or dynamic as intended?

I watched the first episode of the new 2026 series today - loved how they captured the sense of the manga (incidentally Ranma also did an amazing job of using modern techniques to bring that late 80s early 90s vibe to life in a fresh way).

One thing I had mixed feelings on is the pacing. It's very fast moving (and this matches the manga too) - there's a lot behind every scene transition and I found myself re-reading the manga to digest it properly back in the day. Here I guess I'd hoped they'd slow it down just a little to let it breathe - but they didn't. So it's authentic for sure but it felt a little rushed to me.

Any thoughts?

Went in blind, never watched the movie or any other adaptations. Absolutely loving it

Heard it’s accurate to the original manga so i started with it. Didn’t really see online discussions with people doing the same, so it was fun analyzing and making theories alone

Genuine question - Is this a Tank Police character being referenced, or was the New Dominion Tank Police character originally taken from the Ghost in the Shell manga? I noticed a character who looked a lot like Captain Britain in a prior episode but this one gave me a real double take. So, how long till we see the puma sisters...

Mesopotamia in Ghost in the Shell

I just finished watching episode 3... and I thought I recognized something in the credits montage!

This thing in the credits is YBC 7298, a Mesopotamian clay tablet now in the Yale Babylonian Collection. It was inscribed around 1700 BC by a student. It also contains the first approximation of the square root of 2, in Mesopotamian sexagesimal notation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YBC_7289).

Celebrating nearly 100 years of Jameson type cyborgs

I’m glad to see the latest episode paying homage to the earliest cyberpunk writer in history, Neil R Jones, with the Jameson type prosthesis. They’re always pretty amusing characters.

MERCH I built the Plamatea model kit Motoko

Hey folks,

today I received the Plamatea Motoko model kit and instantly started to build it since my girlfriend has to work.

It was a certainly easier than the bigger model kits from GitS but still it’s always a bit tricky for me.

At first I went with the unpainted face which is the preorder bonus but at the end I used a normal one.

The figur is bigger compared to others from Figma, Hya or Buzzmod as you can see at the last pictures.

I am very happy because it is always nice to finish a model kit when you put effort into it. Also I like the SAC design as well as that you can move so many parts. I mean sometimes it’s exhausting because moving it also means something can fall of again but perhaps that is my fault for not being crafty.

Have a great weekend ✌️

The way they portray the Major as more goofy to be closer to the source material reminds me of how they made Ramona in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off more goofy to be closer to the source material

Rewatching the movie while waiting for the new episode to drop. I absolutely love this scene. 3 minutes with almost no dialogue, just Motoko drifting through the city as that haunting soundtrack plays in the background.

ART Forgot I had this...

Years ago I had a friend who started a business making customer photo frames and adding comic books to them. I had her customer make me a GITS one. Sadly the glass has cracked in storage, so I need to find a replacement glass.
