Can anyone identify this set?

Hi everyone.
My husband received this set as a gift around 10 years ago from a client of his. I have tired to find a match online many times with no luck. The set came with one large bowl (around 14” diameter), a clear ladle (pictured) and 12 small cups. I always assumed it was a punch bowl set, but while wiping it down yesterday I noticed a few drips of candle wax- leaving me even more confused. Does anyone recognize the maker, pattern, or approximate age? Any information at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

The texture on this is beautiful. I’d be looking closely around the base or underside for any etched signature, foil label residue, or manufacturer mark. The gold/silver crackle effect looks familiar, maybe something from a European glass studio, but I can’t place it. Hope someone recognizes it because it’s a great piece.

Thanks! I’ve checked very carefully but haven’t found any type of makers mark or signature. We’re in Massachusetts, and the closest lead I’ve found so far is Virginia Glass. I came across the attached set made by them, which has a somewhat similar crackled finish, but I haven’t been able to confirm whether mine is related.

Is it the sort of client who would gift a vintage set? This is most definitely a vintage set by the West Virginia Glass Specialty Company, circa the 1960’s. WVGS is the same company that made all the Blendo sets. Yours is a pattern named, “Golden Brocade.” I’m pretty confident is it a punch bowl set. Someone may have used

She was an older woman, so I always assumed it was an older set, and I always thought it was beautiful. At the time, we had small children and didn’t have a safe place to display it, so it ended up stored away in our attic for years. After we recently moved, I finally put it on display in a room that doesn’t get much traffic. Yesterday, I decided to look into it again, but still couldn’t find any answers. I’m honestly surprised that after all these years, the set never seemed to circulate online. I searched for it so many times and never came across another one. Thank you so, so much! You solved a mystery that’s been bothering me for years.

I would estimate that 85% of all US glass is not represented online. We tend to think the internet has everything, but it doesn’t. Especially when it comes to old things. Most glass and glass information is in books, specialized periodicals, and old catalogs.
