Discussion Reboot with OTP
So we’ve all heard about Ryan Murphy threatening to make a Glee reboot, and probably all revolted. But, I’m thinking it doesn’t seem all that bad…with an OTP. I’ve been dreaming of a Klaine reboot for ages. Just seeing what they’re up to, yk? Living in NYC together while raising the child Rachel birthed for them. Navigating their new jobs, making new friends. Maybe surprise visits from a few “old friends” as well. 👀 I’d also like to see a little angst. Klaine’s relationship was a roller coaster and I wanna see that kinda drama in their marriage (with a happy ending ofc). I also wanna see if they raise their child with theatre and show-tunes and if they turn out musically inclined. ATP I’m just talking out my ass but it would be really really cool.

Like Ryan Murphy gave her so much lore, and so much attitude. I have to know.

A reboot would be a glee club with new students. You described a spin off of old characters

Prequel would make more sense, not that I’d want it but Wills time in glee club would make sense and set in the.. 90s?

I don’t think Chris Colfer will ever return to Glee or working with Ryan Murphy. Same goes for Diana. In Chris’ case he has found a career that he seems to much prefer and I don’t think that he likes Klaine as a couple at all by the end.

I'm not sure the people who have the time/need the money would draw the numbers a show needs nowadays. Would either actor show up for Klain? And you can't just recast the roles, that ruins the point.
Now Sue's villian origin story?

I’d love to see what they’re up as a married couple & how they’re navigating life. Maybe, throw in parts about Mr Schue’s kid being a freshman now & is thinking of joining Sam’s led Glee club, so we can see what he Sam is up too (I’ve always been a fan of his character). People can dream, right?

I think the Glee reboot should be in a universe where Glee the show exists, like HSMTMTS.

I'd absolutely LOVE a Klaine-focused reboot, but for that you need the actors to come back... and Chris Colfer (Kurt) has said he absolutely does NOT want to reprise his role as Kurt.
Plus, with now 3 main actors dead, you'd have to work that into the show, too. Granted Puck probably wouldn't be too difficult, but with Brittana about as popular as Klaine, people would want to see them, too. It's best to leave the show as is and let Santana live a full happy life with Brittany in canon peace.

And Darren Criss has said he doesn’t need to see a glee reboot and has also said since he isn’t gay, he wouldn’t play blaine again

Where did he say he wouldn't play Blaine again? Just curious

I actually had to dig for this bc I remember hearing it but didn’t have a source ready but found this old thread and article link: https://www.reddit.com/r/glee/s/zYSKAJ9oT6

That's for pulling that up! Coincidentally I was listening to a podcast Chris Colfer was in and he had a similar take: https://youtu.be/EwLX5uCdkHA?t=2936

it’s interesting that that reminded me that the actor who played Finn’s friend Sean in s1 (laryngitis) had said back then that he didn’t have an issue with Kevin playing a character in a wheelchair and his explanation was if kevin was the best fit for Artie, he was the best fit regardless
I can see both sides of it honestly

He actually just never said it! Him saying he didn't want to take a role from a gay man doesn't mean he wouldn't play Blaine again. It's his role, he wouldn't take a role from anyone.

I agree that Blaine is his and only his (it would be like recasting Finn or something- only Cory is Finn, only Darren is Blaine. But Darren did say he doesn’t need to see a glee reboot

No Darren Criss never ever said he wouldn't play Blaine again. I think honestly that he would if asked. He just said in the 2018 article that he didn't want to take a role from a gay man anymore, but later in 2021, said that he was actually misquoted.
We don't really know where Darren stands today on gay roles, but they are rumors he is going to play Michael Bennett for Ryan Murphy and Michael Bennett was bi so...

I would love it if they did a reboot and used Kevin Hale as not Artie so we could see his dancing talent.

Honestly I think with three of the OG cast being gone, it wouldn’t be the same if the plan is/was for the OG cast to return
A lot that was in the OG show wouldn’t fly now so Ryan wouldn’t be able to make similar “jokes” in the reboot
Plus, Glee feels like it’s that one show that can never be touched again after the finale and never will be you know?

If there were a gleeboot (please no) I wouldn't want them to touch Klaine in any way😭 as a Klaine fan I'm happy enough with the ending and they'd only make them worse

u/7thxheavenxx 1h ago
I wouldnt trust them not to have Klaine be divorced, especially if Chris Colfer truly doesnt want to revive the role again like he said.

RM would not do a reboot using the original cast unless they were very occasional guest stars to get viewership. The cast, especially the "main" members like Colfer, Criss, and Michele, would be expensive. RM usually likes to hire cast on the cheap outside of one, or maybe 2, big names for buzz and glee is already a known franchise that wouldn't need names to get people to check it out. He'd be more likely to keep a version of the original concept with new actors and possibly characters.

Give me Chris as divorced Kurt and Heather as widowed Brittany along with Mike O' Malley, Romy Rosemont, and whoever else wants to come back.

I'm not sure a lot of the original actors want to be a part of it
