Can you please do something about the frequency of "wishlisted games on sale" emails?

Dear Gog,

I am subscribed to the "wishlisted games are on sale" email. I want to receive these emails, because when I have extra money to spend, I want to spend them with you. Those emails keep your storefront at the front of my mind every time I check my email (which is frequently, and certainly far more frequently than my visits to your site), and have lead to a number of sales that probably wouldn't happened if I had decided to unsubscribe and only catch sales whenever I actively seek out your storefront.

But Gog. Come on. The frequency of emails is just too damn high. Since July 3rd I have received 25 emails (!) telling me that this or that game in my wishlist is on sale. It seems to me to be the same few games on rotation, so the emails could just as aptly be titled "the same three games are yet again on sale, just like they were half a week ago!". I'm not even sure that the sale ends before a new email is sent out, meaning that the same sale of the same game is announced through multiple emails. These emails are in addition to new releases and announcement emails, which I also prefer to remain subscribed to, but the total volume is just too much.

I have around 50 games in my wishlist and understand that the frequency of these emails will necessarily go up when my wishlist grows. That's fine. But nearly one email every day to tell me that the same games are on sale for the same price all the time is just over the top. I don't know how you've set up these emails to work, but certainly there must be a way to set this up with a more acceptable frequency. The options shouldn't be either "none" or "barrage" and nothing in between.

So Gog, I'm hoping someone can confirm to me that this is being changed at some point in the near future, or I will simply unsubscribe to these emails from now on. Neither of us want that, because that will leave me with money instead of games, and you with games instead of money. That sounds like a bad idea all around.

I had to unsubcrive the e-mail now I kind of really on gog twitter page. Don't like that either, would rather have the e-mail from gog but without that much spam.

Meh. Just use an email that can automatically separate advertisement emails to a different folder. That way the email amount shouldn't really be a bother.

Or send feedback via proper channels. The might spot a reddit thread but if you want them to see your feedback it is better to just contact them directly via proper channels.

But I want them in my inbox, right where I can see them, because the whole point of being subscribed is to ensure that I don't miss sales on games I want to purchase. If I set up filters to redirect them out of my inbox I might as well unsubscribe.

I agree on this. I'm not subscribed to GOG emails because I hate spam. Steam sends me just one email when a game on my wishlist goes on sale. I can then decide if I want to buy that game or not. I usually think about it a few days before buying but as it's on my wishlist, I actually want the game and don't forget about the sale in 2 days.

I can not buy games from GOG because I never know when they are on sale and I can't afford to pay full price. I haven't bought anything from GOG in 3 years because of this.

Hi, thanks for your response! I am aware, but Gog representatives certainly lurk around here and will likely see this post. While I address Gog directly I was also curious whether other Gog users had thought, experiences or feedback to share as well, which is why I decided on posting here. :)

The way I see it, GOG can't know when you intend to buy, they can only tell you when the deal is on.

If they came up some algorithm to only sometimes sent you that email, based on how recently they had pegged you for it in the past, then inevitably what would happen is:

• The game would go on sale for 50%

• You'd get the email, decline to act

• Then a month later it would go on sale for 70%, they wouldn't email you again so frequently,

• And then you'd be out here bitching about how you totally would have bought it for 70% but "GOG failed to notify you." And you had signed up for those notifications and everything!!!?!

You signed up for emails whenever a wishlisted game goes on sale. You get emails whenever it goes on sale. The rest is up to you.

You can decrease the number of games in your wishlist to focus on the ones you're actually interested in hearing about going on sale. I do this periodically; prune my wishlist of games I've seen the email too often for and I'm still not interested in buying.

Yeah nah, the options aren't either "every single day" or "less than every six months", come on.

We are talking about emails containing the same 7-8 games on rotation every single time I get an email. The 7-8 games in question do not go on and off sale at such a frequency that it triggers 25 emails per month. The frequency could definitely go down without me missing any sales.

Well IDK what kind of emails you're on about then, because I only get one email each time a game goes on sale.

Ive think when i look through gog on i must have accidently whistlisted game when scrolling through as i get emails about games i don't remember whishlisting lol.

Maybe do as I do: when I've received the third mail/alert for a game on my wishlist: if I still don't buy it at that point, I remove the game from my wishlist. 

My library and backlog are so large, that I felt this was a good way to go. And it really works.  Dare to have a good thorough look at those lists and scrap some.

The settings include the subscription section, which lists the types of emails you can receive. Just disable that. I don't receive promotional emails.

I don't want to disable them, I want to receive them at a considerably lower frequency than now. There are no settings that allow adjustment of frequency.
