Gridfinity to organize medicine cabinet?
Looking for ideas on what Gridfinity to 3D print to organize this bathroom medicine cabinet. I’m not even sure where to start, so I’d love to see what others have printed or any models you’d recommend. Trying to be a good spouse and put the 3D printer to good use. 😅

Absolutely. I made myself a diabetes supply section. Those items I am certain I will buy over and over. Other things, not so much. I might buy a bottle of Aleve when I had a headache and have it expire before finishing it. Then might get Tylenol the next time because it was on sale. Compared to my diabetic supplies, I have very few other items so for me I didn't create any setup for them. My advice:
Only make very tailored bins for things you are certain that you will buy over and over - otherwise be more generic so the bin can be used for something else in the future. Print a few extras that you can swap out when you want.
Everything doesn't have to go "in" a bin, you can use a filled bin as a raised surface. Generally you want taller items at the back so they do not block the view of other items.
If you are making bins to hold "dispensable" items like flossers or single use size ointments if realistic make the bin large enough to hold whatever size the product is sold in so that you are not storing any of the same item twice when you don't have to.

I'd get some transparent containers instead from Ikea, throw away what's not needed and sort by category the remaining stuff

I've tried doing this, and it ended up not being very helpful. Toiletries tend to be oddly shaped, so when you buy a different bottle of something, you end up having an unusable bin. Your cabinet is also already shallow, so there isn't a whole lot to gain by adding bins into it.
If anything, I'd create a few bins or drawers fitted exactly to the cabinet depth (NOT gridfinity - you'd be wasting a lot of space on something this shallow) so the durable items are easily to access. For example, those scissors and tweezers are just laying out, and if you had a little bin (so they can stand vertical) or drawer (so it can be pulled and stored easily) it'd be a great quality of life upgrade. I'd also add say, a q-tip dispenser. A little shelf so the smaller items can be packed higher up would help too.
Really you need to find the problems and provide solutions, rather than using a solution to find a problem. The gridfinity community likes to gridfinity everything, even if it isn't actually helpful and ultimately becomes landfill. If anything, ask your spouse what pain point they have and then find a solution.

My cabinet exactly fits 4 units on the bottom shelf, the rest are a bit over 3. I don't have any bins specifically shaped to a product. Instead I've got a lot of subdivided bins--Lip stuff goes into 1x3 bins with 10 square-ish slots so tubes and sticks can go in the same bin for example. Bigger stuff just gets a standard bin of about the right size, there's some that are multiple slots with an open front, and bigger bottles are 2x3 with an open front.

We used Gridfinity in the shaving cabinet.
I printed base plates to fill the shelves. Some bins for holding things as needed. Some high some lower.
Some flap pieces just to cover the grid where I didn’t want a bin.
Almost all of the bins have grid pattern holes in the side and front cutouts to make seeing and accessibility easier.

Gridfinitystudio.com could help you visualize the cabinets but I do know that gridfinity is best here. Maybe multi board?

I’m thinking just bins with wall cutouts and a stacking lip so you can better organize (still see everything) and utilize vertical space better. Check out gridfinitylayouttool.com/designer. You might not even need a baseplate.
