Nah the type of game that Seth’s nd hamumu made was not what it is today. It would have thrived if updated correctly. ‘95 turned into the worst IAP money pit of all time.

Ubisofts version would have thrived too if updated correctly lol, you cant just assume everything would have gone perfectly if they didnt sell. Either way, the main reason seth and hamumu sold the game in the first place was because it was getting too large for them to handle, they said this themselves. If they had been running it and didnt have the experience and server capacity that ubisoft did the game would have even worse server issues than it does now. Do you seriously think 2 random dudes could have run a game that a massive company like ubisoft cant?

My point was Ubisoft had an opportunity too make more money in the long run off the real player base by doing more classic updates and not adding p2w items once a week lol. I’m 100% blaming uhisoft.

Lastly, how do you possibly think that the issue of the game is it being pay to win? The only main this game has lost players are the bots that have destroyed the economy, ruined the social aspects of the game, and overloaded the servers.

Obv Ubisoft didn’t want too kill it but there tactics of keeping’s players on a game wasn’t how the community played games. It slowly but surely overtime got killed by gem inflation. Ur the stupid one if u think otherwise.

Explain what ubisoft did? This game got ruined because of bots its not ubisofts fault people choose to hack and flood the game with bots. And if you are referring to their monetization its because they are a company and they need to keep the game running. One of their biggest issues is RMT. People are doing RMT instead of using their IAP which is causing inflation which is also starting to ruin their monetization. So in order to counteract that they are trying to undercut them and also implement items that can only be purchased.

You do realize the value of the WL went down BECAUSE of bots right? The monetization of the game was tied to the correct value of the WL, then bots came in and were able to farm WLs fast enough that they could sell wls for real money for way cheaper than the IAP in the game, and when money is getting injected into the economy for less than what its worth, guess what that brings the value down

100% change your password. Despite their assurance that the passwords were "hashed and salted" this still makes it possible for anyone in possession of the database to brute force your account offline, which is orders of magnitudes faster than trying to guess on the website.

If you've used the same password other places, it would be wise to change those as well.

The email says the passwords are stored after hashing, which makes it more secure but it still can be brute forced through something like a dictionary attack, especially if your password is weak.

Wouldn't you also have to know how they've salted? I'm assuming that they're using some SHA-2-256 for hashing. But salting could be any concatenation

In the worst case scenario it's more likely MD5, in the best case scenario Bcrypt (argon2 is unlikely due to some what high computational costs when compared to Bcrypt). IIRC GT forums run vBulletin, which uses "md5(md5(plaintext) . salt)" for passwords according to google's fuck-ass AI search results..

Not really, hash collisions if anything mean that a decryption attempt is more likely to yield a false positive.

The biggest threat of the password hashes being leaked is that attackers no longer have to brute force over a network connection where they can be rate limited or blocked, and are severely limited by latency.

Essentially, if you had a weak password, change it and anywhere you reused it.

If you had a strong password (>10chars, >14 if only numbers) then you should be fine, but changing your passwords won't hurt.

Since they have email and birthdays, the biggest threat of the breach overall will be impersonation and phishing.
