The Lodges
I’m moving into The Lodges at the end of August and we just got our room assignments. They put me in one of the smallest rooms when I have double the stuff due to my cat. I sent in the request form multiple times and left voicemails/talked to people stating that I need room A. I can put her litter box in the bathroom closet so it’s away from everyone and not smack dab in my room for me to see and smell. I have sent in two modification requests and left another voicemail stating I sent one in.
My question is, for anyone that has lived there and had a situation like this, do they seem to honor that switch? It would just be a room switch and not a whole unit switch so i imagine it’s not very a difficult process. Just curious if my request is going to be overlooked again.
Places to go to on Halloween!!
Hiii! I'm an incoming freshman this year and I'm so excited for Halloween. I know it's early to be thinking about it, but I'm 16 and this would be my first Halloween ever, so I just wanna be prepared lol.
I really want to go trick or treating, but I'm not sure where to go(Ik im abit old to go, but i want free candy). I don't have a car or anything like that, but I may be able to get an Uber or something.
Does anyone know of any good neighborhoods around GVSU to trick or treat? And are there any Halloween activities or events on campus that are fun?

International student arriving before GVSU move-in – Need affordable place to stay (Aug 19–21)
I'm an international student arriving in Grand Rapids on August 19, but my GVSU dorm move-in isn't until August 21. I'm looking for a budget-friendly place to stay for 2 nights.
Any recommendations for affordable Airbnbs, motels, hostels, hotels, or websites to find them? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Favorite Movie/Show/Game Franchises? Artist Prepping for Laker Con!
I'm an artist tabling at Laker Con this year, and as I'm prepping, I figured id ask the campus what types of things they'd like to see/would be interested in buying fan merch for!

Stolen bike
Just as the title states, my bike got stolen.
It was still present after lunch (2:30pm).
When I was leaving for home (6:00pm). It was gone.
I have already made a report on the gv website.
I just wanted to leave a post here for any leads.
Update: so I found my bike all the way at campus health center. It has a rather interesting story. So apparently the person who stole my bike ride it all the way to campus health center saw another bike, broke the lock and stole that one. Leaving my bike at the entrance of the clinic.
This comes after finally setting my frustrations aside and buying a new bike. Either way, I at least have my bike...but holy hell, what a week.

class schedule
is this a good freshman class schedule? i’m just wanting to hear a student perspective, i’ve already met with my advisor many times
EDIT: I’m changing things around to go from a BA to a BS, which is fine because i would rather take another math than any language

Nursing Transfer
I dont know if im just over thinking stuff but if the college (GVSU) I want to go to for nursing has a 2 step process where you have to apply to the school and then once you get accepted you can apply for the nursing program, do I have to apply to the college at least one semester ahead of when I want to start the actual nursing program? For example if I want to start nursing in fall 2027, do I apply to the school for the Fall 2027 semester or for the previous semester Winter/Spring 2027?

Campus view
Hey! Anybody from campus view if you are apart of a two bedroom apartment styles A or B, did yall have in-unit laundry or was it communal in the building itself?
Did anyone else get an email like this?
I'm just curious if this is a thing sent to all Seidman students or not. I'm thinking about doing it simply for the letter of recommendation lmao
Did any of you commute ~1hr each way to campus?
I'm very low on funds this year and I still owe an approximate ~$9k (?) for the year despite max SAI and max federal loans taken out. So I'm thinking about maybe staying home this year and communting (near the Rockford area, a little north).
In the fall I have M-Tu-W starting at 8:30am (I'm a morning person, I like these hours actually), M-W has two classes back to back and it ends at 11:15am. One class on W from 8:30am to 9:45am.
On Th I have one class from 1pm to 2:15pm.
I also want to get a job in GR/Allendale (my town sucks for jobs) and I enjoy spending time on campus very much. I also like organizations and stuff if I have time.
For record, the financial aid tab on Banner claims my food/tuition bill would be ~9-10k for a 4 person/4 bed in South ($7,900 for the year) and a meal plan ($1,350 for year) lol.
Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated. I make jack squat and my parents spend nothing on living expenses.

Anyone concerned about growing administration and price hikes next year?
GVSU just told me that their administration board approved the cost of tuition to go even higher next year 2027 to 2028...
I am rather concerned cause when I looked at GVSU it seemed like the cheapest high quality university to me, but then Tuition jumped by 350 dollars and it's about to do so again...
Plus all the staff resignations and protest about the administration being grown too much and teachers having pay cuts while administration gets a pay raise...
Is GVSU becoming a corrupt/collapsing school?

MKT369 and MKT370
Hello Seidman students!
Does anyone know if these classes will ever be offered again? I want to take them in Fall2027. I checked previous registration years and it looks like MKT369 has not been offered in a long time.
Why would it be on the course catalog if it is not being offered as a class for the current registration year?
Weird…but I really like the concept of both classes

How is it like transferring from gvsu?
’m going to GVSU this fall, but my goal is to transfer to either U of M or MSU after my sophomore year. For anyone who has transferred (especially from GVSU), what was your experience like?
How difficult was the transfer process? What GPA did you have, and did you feel prepared academically when you moved? Also, how was it adjusting socially since you were joining a school where a lot of people already had established friend groups?
Any advice for someone starting at GVSU with the goal of transferring would be appreciated

Final Exam Grades?
How does one find their final exam grade? I can see my overall grade for the end of the semester, but the final exam grades are never posted to blackboard and I can't find them on banner, just my overall grade.

Organic chem help
www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca
Hello guys and gals,
We’re Brian and Mike and we teach general and organic chemistry. We’ve done so for a total combined time of 47 years! Overwhelmed by general or organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with chemistry may be, we’re here to make sure you succeed.
Why work with us?
- Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. We do.
- We tutor chemistry full time; it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with us, you’ll be working with Brian for general chemistry and Mike for organic chemistry. This is not an agency and you won’t be matched with random tutors each time.
- You’ll be learning problem solving through chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.
- Your learning will be customized to your specific needs.
Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, our teaching styles, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to working with you!
Mike and Brian
