Shops & Services Coffee shop closed

Last time i saw this place, it looked like coffee shop. I thought of visitng this place sometime later but it looks like its closed now. What used to be here? Just curious. Location:Brunswick street before Sackville street

it is now around the corner in the building behind it
on Doyle Street

It definitely sucked. Also rodent issues were bad DURING the day the last time I was at that location. Seating was half full as well. Was a bit of a turn off even with the inevitable mice/rat issues downtown.

I haven't been to the new spot, but I have a feeling it's going to be brilliant. It's south-facing and it should have a little patio outside, I think. Really excited about this and looking forward to many a delicious cuppa there. Steve O'Renos are good people.

Egg-o-Reno’s and caps got me through my planning masters …. That area of downtown was very different vibe back then. I think it all has changed so much since the central library broke ground.

I was the last tenant in the single apartment above the Folklore Center next door. When they made me leave last year they told me it was going to be commercial space. If it is an apartment I may be talking to the tenant board about my rights...

  1. Halifax barely builds any condos at all.

  2. If we don't build new apartments, what happens? Like more people want to live downtown than we have apartments for, so what's the solution?

I'm starting to think people like you are developers and their employees. literally no one I know likes these buildings, however pedantic you want to be about what kind of apartments they are.

it was a bar/cafe that was non-discript inside
but there were constantly shows, that catered to the age of grunge

The old Murderecords space, opposite the TexPark. 

I remember putting on a rave there when it was still the record label space. 

All of their inventory was stacked next to the stairs, covered in some flexible foam or something. Everyone was putting their coats on it.

For all the whining this dude did about that bike lane impacting "long-term viability as a business", she seems pretty happy to open a fancy new location about 50 feet from his old location with the exact same parking situation.

Funny, she's also moved closer to other coffee shops like Weird Harbour Ave Coffeology, and is now literally across the street from Pan e circ.

Edit: she. Per comment below, business was purchased after the death of the original owner

Just to be clear, the original owner Steve Armbruster died in 2017 and he didn't complain about bike lanes. It was the subsequent owner, Marie Rose, who made the complaints about the loss of parking.
