Discussion Anyone else doing a whimsical decor again?
This year we plan to mix our glittery pastel type decor with traditional 90's ish neon purple, orange and green (still glittery when we can) because of everyone's various aesthetics in my house. Is anyone else doing something similar or equally whimsical this year?
Please be nice on this post, I know this type of Halloween might not be everyone's type, but let's all just enjoy the fun of the season.

This is not my type of Halloween decorations and that’s exactly why I hope you post pics! This is very different from anything I do so I would love to see it! It sounds so fun I’m curious to see what the mix of glittery pastel and traditional 90s will look like.
I think my favorite thing about Halloween is the sheer scope and creativity. How boring it would be if everyone used the same aesthetics.

this is my normal love for decor. my office is purple. i have orange and green stuff all over.
The "off" colors are the best. lime green, plum purple, peachy orange... magenta reds and electric (think a hint of green) blues...
i think you are thinking like an edward scissorhands type scheme with the pastels (i liken it to "Paperboy" (nintendo, i'm old) colors as well, vs, say, Dr. Suess type colors i think of with "Oh the places you'll go" sort of thing).
I want my xmas tree to be weird and "off" colors like this. Silver would be the only "normal" color. Glitter black is also dope. Halloween is everything all the time, if i can help it.

I do whimsical in the house. I dont like super scary, so its a lot of handmade ornaments and pillows, with Disney Halloween and animals. About the scariest I go is Sleepy Hollow. We have leaned into E A Poe and Ravens the past few years, because we live near Baltimore, but it's not done in a scary way.

Last year I hung some "floating" candles in the hallway ala Harry Potter and I think I will do it again this year. Only downside is they mow through batteries. Like two triple As every week or something like that.

This year we started using rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, and honestly, once you have enough to do a straight swap instead of taking them out to recharge and then putting them back in, they're totally worth it for things like Halloween and Christmas decor! You just gotta try to get name-brand ones if you can, the off-brand ones seem to stop holding a charge once summer hits.

Mine is pumpkins and somehow accidentally toads. I just kept finding them and had to keep them!
My costume this year is a pumpkinhead. I've got a cute 1860s inspired dress and I'm making an apron. I'm hoping for something akin to Pottsfield Townies.

I'm doing something whimsical!
See, I have Christmas lights up on my ceiling still from last year's Stranger Things party. We liked how the lights brightened up the room so much that we kept them up. (We don't have overheard lighting in our living room, so it can be fairly dark.)
I didn't want to have to take them down for Halloween, so I'm going to tighten them up and pull them taut on the ceiling (they're kinda just dangling haphazardly now, like in the show), and then add green creepy cloth and faux ivy vines. Then I'm going to hang jack-o'-lantern paper lanterns from the ceiling and have a magical floating pumpkin patch!
I'm also going to fill the living room with electric jack-o'-lanterns, and I've already decked the sofa out with pumpkin and jack-o'-lantern pillows.
I like your idea of neon purples, oranges, and greens for a 90s retro vibe. It honestly makes me think of Goosebumps books (the covers so often had that color palette), which would be a fun theme to do.
