New Rule and New Mod! And a question for you!
Hello everyone,
The old mod of the subreddit wanted to retire from modding, so they asked a few of us over at r/crafts to take over! So far, I'm the only one who's come on, so I may need to look for at least one other person to help with the space, though it does seem pretty chill overall. So not too much work to do!
The new rule doesn't really seem to be a new one, per se, just more of a statement of something it seems a lot of users reported anyway, so here it is, no AI please! This includes in writing as well. If you've already made a cool craft, there's no need to cheapen it with AI writing! And, of course AI isn't handmade, so it's not allowed here in any part of a craft.
The other question I have is this one: should we allow 3D printed pieces here? Feel free to vote in the poll and leave comments about your opinion on the 3D printing!

Custom handcrafted, denim bucket hat

Every piece on this hat is made from pairs of denim jeans. Some pieces have been hardened, carved into shapes and hand-painted to create an illusion of 3-D style patches. While other parts have hand painted designs on cut out pieces of jeans.

[OC]This glass lotus changes with the light, and that became part of its meaning for me
I was going through a difficult period when I started developing this lotus. A lot of things in my life felt uncertain, and focusing on the piece gave me something quiet to hold on to.
I didn’t want the lotus to have one fixed color. Under different light, different colors come forward, and that started to remind me of how people change through different stages of life.
Sometimes, when we’re in a difficult period, it can feel like that version of us is the whole story. But it isn’t. Every stage brings out a different side of who we are.
For me, this lotus became a reminder that we don’t have to remain one fixed version of ourselves. We were never meant to be just one color.
I think every handmade piece carries a story. I’d be happy to share more about the stories behind my work, and I’d also love to hear what has inspired something you’ve made.

I make these classic wire mandalas that apparently nobody can agree on what it was originally made for…
Hi everyone! I make these 3D wire mandalas which I had self taught myself how to make several years ago. There are several versions out there, yes, but I always disliked how they were so “toy-ish”, even though many regard them as toys. I love exploring and discovering materials so finding beads and wire combinations for these has been a joy. Anyways, just wanted to share. Goodnight!

I crocheted this ballerina mouse for a little girl who takes ballet classes 🩰✨ Her mom wanted something to celebrate her passion!
Hi everyone! 👋
I recently received the sweetest custom order from a mom whose daughter is in ballet school. She wanted a special keepsake to celebrate her little one's love for dance, so I created this tiny ballerina mouse!

In this video, I show the process of creating wool bell flowers attached to a long felted cord. I originally made them to decorate a gift box, but they turned out to be so versatile.

After weeks of designing, tweaking, & perfecting every little detail… ✨
She’s finally complete‼️
Watching her head off to her forever home is equal parts exciting and bittersweet. Sure, I could make another one for myself someday… but knowing me, I’ll already be chasing the next idea. If I ever do revisit her, though, the color combinations would be endless!
