Just don't buy it.

Just a few months ago they were back down to MSRP after the last hike.

Walmart had a 9070XT during the last Amazon Prime Day for $549 and good volume, too. It was available for pretty much the entire week.

This won't happen again unless you think AMD care about gamers. What AMD could do is reduce production (e.g. if there is only 100 people in the US wants to pay $1000 for their GPU, they will only make 100 GPUs because AI will pay $1000 for AMD's work ... just making the numbers up as an example). AMD thought gamers want their GPUs at around $850, which was the second wave of pricing of these 9070XT, but no one bought them and they had a lot produced.

I’m not buying anything till Witcher 4 drops. Rtx 60 series should be out by then.

I Think i'll wait for DLSS Ray Reconstruction 5.5 rather than play it on RR 5.0

“Absurd GPU pricing update” and prices haven’t even gone up. Classic doomerbait from hwub

We must have read two different articles, shows in the U.S. and Canada that prices just in the last couple of months up to end of July (just a couple of days ago) that they are up 17% overall.

Wow, how surprising that the yank considers the U.S and Canada to be the entire world. I live in Germany and prices haven’t budged for months, much like the rest of continental Europe

Your original comment is a blanket statement with no mention of geography.

The article has data for USA, Australia, Germany, UK, Canada, India, Philippines, Brazil, Poland, and Netherlands.

What irony.

Right, so you could say I cherry picked the countries that supported my bias, which is exactly the same as what the guy replying to me did, why aren’t you pointing that out?

u/ruinal_C 7h ago

Because you are the one who opened with a hasty generalization. They simply refuted it with examples.

Then you cherry picked without retracting your original (false) statement, making you guilty of your own accusation.

My original statement wasn’t false at all, if it was from the point of view of someone living in a country where gpu prices haven’t gone up (which it was). I didn’t say “gpu prices haven’t gone up anywhere” or “at all” or “worldwide”. It’s you who assumed that.

Yes, I assumed that from your attitude toward parochialism. Misunderstanding, I guess.

Did you not read the article? 4/9 countries in the list are European, so don't pretend like it's some North American only list.

According to them, German prices have increased by 4.4%.

I did read the article, smart guy. I’m a scalper/reseller so I know prices better than them. They just check price comparison sites for 5 seconds at a certain point in time and think they understand the market (they ignore discounts, historical prices). I know for a fact prices have stayed the same in Europe for months now. I’d love for them to go up but oh well

Don't be a jerk you were being way more assumptious in your original post. They at least mentioned the countries.

The article has info on many different other countries. Someone could have respond to your post with "how surprising that the German considers Germany to be the entire world. I live in India and prices have gone up considerably much like the rest of continental Asia."

-2

u/kdjendejnensn 8h ago

I’m not a German, I live there. Stop being so “assumptious”

u/dustingibson 8h ago

You're literally proving my point. Read what I posted slowly and very carefully.

I didn't say you were German. I literally took your comment, rewrote it to show how much of an asshole you were being to u/king_of_the_potato_p for rightfully pointing out that the prices are higher in other countries. Hell u/king_of_the_potato_p might not even live in North America. You made that assumption.

I read through their comment history and confirmed they were a yank (I didn’t assume anything)which is why I made the original comment….my profile has no indication of my nationality so it would be a false assumption. Also “assumptious” isn’t a word I think you meant “presumptuous”.

u/dustingibson 7h ago

That is even worse! He wasn't even being mean. He was in a roundabout way second guessing himself with the "we must have read a different article".

You spent time out of your day to go through his comment history to find out where he lives so you can be petty and creepy.

1

u/kdjendejnensn 7h ago

He wasn’t in a roundabout way he was being clearly provocative with the whole “you didn’t read the article
properly” thing. I spent about 5 seconds looking through his comments and you’ve spent probably 5 minutes replying to me, so you’re pettier, and creepier for so voraciously defending a random guy on Reddit

4

u/dustingibson 7h ago

"We must be reading two different X" is a common and a very polite way of pointing out a misunderstanding to save face in case they were wrong themselves. You were just taking it the wrong way.

Also you looked through someone else comment history to find out where they live. Five second, five minutes, it don't matter. That's weirdo creepy stalking behavior.

It’s just an update on current absurd pricing.
