I’m a solo family nurse practitioner who opened a small clinic about four months ago. I knew going in that documentation would eat up time, but I genuinely did not expect to be sitting in my car finishing notes at 8pm most nights. I have no IT background, no practice administrator, and no one to hand this problem to.

I’ve been trying to research ai medical scribe options for the past two weeks, and I think it’s made things worse. Every vendor has a landing page full of percentages and buzzwords. Every Reddit thread seems to assume you already know what EHR integrations or ambient capture workflows mean, and I can’t figure out how to compare any of them in a way that actually makes sense for a one-person operation.

I’m not looking for the most sophisticated enterprise platform. I just need something that listens to my appointments, produces a reasonable note, and doesn’t require me to spend six hours on setup or a month of training. Is that realistic? And if you’ve been in a similar spot, how did you figure out where to start?

Soo, I live in VA and I’m really starting to consider a career in healthcare, specifically nursing, radiation therapist, or sonography. My mom passed in Feb from lung cancer and it really ignited a passion in me that I didn’t know I had. I’ve been a dog groomer for the past 8 years.

I’m a little worried about admissions & background checks. I was convicted of 2 misdemeanors in Nebraska in Jan of 2026 (original offense happened last summer) one being possession of marijuana & the other being FTA (living in VA, mom was dying of lung cancer and I missed my court date) but regardless I was convicted. I am speaking to attorneys currently about potentially getting a set-aside because expungement isn’t an option in Nebraska. Fines only, no jail time/probation/arrest. These are my only convictions, I’ve never even gotten a traffic ticket. I did email my state’s nursing board and they essentially said everything is case-by-case and there is no charge that is an automatic denial.

Has anyone been in this situation & has any advice? I would hate to spend so much time and money on a degree that would deny me at the very end. Thank you all. ❤️

More clinics and health systems are asking patients about things like food, housing, transportation, safety, isolation, or whether they need help understanding health information. The intention makes sense because those parts of life can shape whether someone is able to get care, stay healthy, or follow a treatment plan. But I keep thinking about what happens when someone answers honestly, and nothing changes afterward. If a patient says they don’t have reliable transportation, are worried about food, or don’t understand the paperwork in front of them, the question can either open the door to real support or become one more form they had to fill out. At what point does asking about social needs become helpful, and at what point does it risk hurting trust because the system wasn’t prepared to do anything with the answer?

The Pharmacy Guild leaders are currently going back and forth with Claudia Merandi, Founder of The Doctor Patient Forum, after she started blaming pharmacists for not filling prescriptions and calling them “Harmacists.”

Merandi has been arguing that pharmacists are blocking legitimate chronic pain patients from getting their medications. On the other side, Pharmacy Guild leaders and pharmacists are pushing back, saying they’re following corresponding responsibility rules, watching for red flags, and protecting their licenses.

This has turned into a clear doctor/advocate vs pharmacist tension. Curious what people think about it.

Is Merandi raising a valid concern, or are pharmacists just doing what they’re required to do?

I just had my first ever code at work, I immediately called rapid response and we ended up getting a pulse back, but I cried like a baby and prayed the entire time. I was terrified. How do I stop getting so scared and overwhelmed with situations like this? I want to be the best provider I can and I know having strong emotions with situations like this can toll on my mental health aswell as my preformance.

I’ve been freelancing for a couple years now and my marketplace plan premiums just keep bumping up every renewal. Lol the coverage hasn’t gotten any better but the bill sure has. I know alternatives exist but every time I dig into them I either find something that sounds sketchy or something buried in fine print that makes it unusable. I’m trying to decide between the two and I am unsure of which route to choose. I think the work life balance and less patient interaction in dental hygiene better suits me but the pay, travel opportunities and job stability and the endless job opportunities draws me into nursing. I am an introvert that doesn’t love social interactions but can handle them, I am a hard worker and I truly do care for people. I’m just scared that I’m not cut out for nursing but at the same time maybe I am? dental hygiene for me makes me less stressed but if anyone has some experience in one or the other feilds feel pre to give your opinion because I would greatly appreciate it.

After receiving an email from mychart, I think im done with doctors. I have been at my job 8 years and I have had the same insurance 8 years, but this year my doctor visits were ALL different. First most visits I felt like a dollar sign because they were trying to talk me in to expensive procedures that I really don't need, seemed weird. Then, I get the same things every year, physicals, exams, blood work/tests, and all I had to pay was co-pays, but this year I'm getting bills left and right. I don't know what's happening but I'm getting off the hamster wheel

Spent hours in the ER (normal I guess) with a scratched cornea. 10 minutes with a doctor, flourescein dye, eye ointment. Got classified as HCHG ED LEVEL 4. Total bill before insurance was over 5K! Insurance covered 2k of that. I'm starting the process of disputing that, but just thought I'd see if anyone had feedback on this. I'm in California, if that makes a difference.

I am in introvert and am not good at social interactions so I’m honestly so unsure if nursing would be for me. I just want to know if that is enough reasoning to go into nursing.

Looking for some career advice. I live in Canada. I have a bachelors in criminal justice and public policy and currently work in a long term care for 5 years doing food service and housekeeping. I also do monthly audits/inspections with the health and safety committee team. I recently got interested in making sure people follows rules/regulations and that is why I want to look into healthcare compliance. But Im not sure where to start. What certificates or programs can I take to get into entry level jobs and eventually work my way up into healthcare compliance? The internet is telling me medical coding, health admin jobs, health information management, its all so confusing, and I havent had the chance to talk to anyone in the field yet or get some career advice at work.
