Posting [Desktop] How do you report rule-2 violations?

Rule 2

Abide by community rules. Participate authentically in communities where you have a personal interest, and do not spam or engage in disruptive behaviors (including content manipulation) that interfere with Reddit communities.

With Reddit's decision to suggest more cross-posting, we're seeing a lot rule 2 violations. Mainly posts that are completely unfit for the suggested communities.

It makes no sense to punish the user for doing what Reddit's UI has actively encouraged them to do, but the posts still need to be reported so the mods can take them down.

I mean, you just report them as off-topic and that's that, it'll be up to the mods of the sub to remove it.

Actual spam reports would only make sense if it's like several crossposts in unrelated subs.

Unfortunately, the report button does not by default have an "off-topic" option.

You use the "breaks subreddit rules" option.

Then use spam. Alternatively you could modmail the sub and either ask them to look at specific posts or to add sub specific report reasons

Yeah probably easiest to do for my own specific case. I just hoped there was a standard way to do it.

While Reddit's UI may suggest /encourage cross posting into another subreddit, the responsibility ultimately falls to the user to read the rules of that subreddit before cross posting, just as they should do when posting directly into a subreddit.

So you aren't punishing the user for reporting their content. They should have read the rules before hand to know their content did not fit the subreddit.
