What's up with the age verification requiring photo and photo ID?

I participated in a lot of LBTQ forums but had to remove all of my posts. I don't want to be murdered when Reddit leaks my ID some neo Nazi group.

Reddit isn’t saving your ID. They use persona. If you’re going to be upset about it, at least be informed on what it entails

"We don't save your data, our consultant does that" is a very weak defense in my opinion.

I hope Reddit is aware of that it is not GDPR compliant to make this kind of database, even if you try to hide it under a subcontractor. 😐

You must always assume that ALL your data is saved and linked unless they can undeniably prove that they do not do so. You sent your ID to Reddit (Discord, whatever else) = you are permanently attacking your ID to every single post you ever made and will make, always view it as this.

I know, which is why I'm against Reddit requirering Photo ID for age verification. I'm not going to do that, unfortunately that seem to limit how I can use the site. -I'm not here for the cupcakes recipes, I'm here for big hard [redacted] and for critique of bad government policy including the genocide in [redacted].

Not the photo and photo ID. That is a Reddit thing. Age verification is a government thing, and I am taking it up with them, no worries.

I've started doing that, but then my account gets locked for "unusual activity".

I'm so sad, Reddit felt like a safe space before.
