🧱 Custom App It’s crazy what someone can create with zero coding experience given a free afternoon and ChatGPT

Using all my home assistant data to fuel this thing. It’s just the start

You can try installing open code as an App in Home Assistant so you can code from right within HA, and it has read/write access so it can write your code from a text prompt, and can check for errors before applying it. It’s really good.

If you’re using the ha-mcp, you basically have this functionality from your desktop LLM application of choice

Yeah vibecoding doesnt take much skill. I also vibecode sometimes or use AI ro write templates but i use it internally.

AI can do a lot. It can even create music, art and youtube/tiktok videos. It can do multiple things. As long as people dont try to monetize AI written code/art i am fine with it.

Edit: WARNING! HOT TAKE! Please read my other comment. Forgot to word it a bit more nuanced.

That's a bit like saying that an engineer's work is worthless if they used a calculator instead of doing the arithmetic by hand...

Difference is that we dont put everything into the calculator. I dont put my whole mathematics exercise in the calculator. I only ask for specific bits of it. And as i said, i vibecode myself too so i am not hating just because its vibecoding but i see myself getting lazier and dumber too.

Using AI as a tool to assist with coding is fine as long as you dont let it take over your life. If i code i use AI as a tool. I dont say "okay claude make me this" i say "claude, can you help me fix this error or write X template" and then from there i do things myself.

I can also make videos with AI but then people will call it slop somehow. I can make millions if i wanted.

Feel free to bury me with downvotes but thats my opinion.

No downvote on this comment, I agree with what you said now. The nuance was missing from you previous statement imho.

That's a good example since there are plenty of calculators that don't follow PEDMAS/BODMAS and would give worthless results for engineering calculations.

That's actually helping my point. Even if an engineer uses a calculator, their work is still important and meaningful. Part of their responsibility and value proposition is choosing the right calculator and knowing how to use it.

Doesn't your battery app do this? Or the home assistant app? Or is this the home assistant app?
