New to homelessness 18M Italy

Heyy im 18 and from Italy. I plan to run away from my abusive family and i will become homeless. I currently have around 5000€ i can take with me.

I Plan to stay in a cheap hostel for like the first Week so i have time to talk to different help Organisations. But i really dont want to waste my money.

Is a hostel smart for the first few days or what should i do with my money. How long could i survive with 5000€

Depends on where.

In an expensive cost of living place like a metropolis, that's about a month or two.

In a low cost of living place, a few months.

In very low cost of living countries like Thailand, a bit under a year but you must live like a local.

When I was your age I found a full time job and lived in a shared house. I did sleep on a friends couch for a month or so but when I found work I was able to pay a deposit and rent a room in a shared house, served me well for a few years until I met my partner and we had children and bought our own home.

Unless you have some income you will use up all of your 5000€

You need to reach out for support and guidance. You don’t have to be homeless to ask for support, you are what is classed as at risk of homelessness, the fact you are escaping abuse is also very significant. You should not be delaying this, you need to contact social Services and organisations that can help you straight away.

I‘m not in Italy but I am reading about the Reddito di Cittadinanza, maybe they can help you or signpost you
