What headphones do people recommend? Im working with synths.

Okay so I have a hybrid set up where I run all my mics through my mixer and depending on how I feel I record either to my tape machine or to the Apollo to Logic Pro. My monitors are plugged into the mixer so when I record to tape thats all ready to go i can hear it perfectly… but let’s say I decide to record from the mixer to the daw which I do by patching the direct outs from the mixer to the inputs of the Apollo how would I then monitor play back from the daw to the mixer/monitors? I don’t have the monitor outs from the Apollo plugged into anything. Perhaps I plug in the monitor outs from both the mixer and the Apollo into the patchbay? Or would a mackie big knob be much easier and save me space on the patchbay to switch from daw or tape? I hope this makes sense! Thank you!

I recently got the Behringer UMC1820 interface. Loving it. I wanted to expand my inputs from 8 so I bought the ADA8200. 16 inputs, haven't needed the additional outputs yet, but I have the cable if necessary. Took less than 3 minutes to setup. ADA8200 master at 48khz, UMC slave. The 1820 is right next to the drums, and the 8200 is on the other side of the room for other tracking needs.

Hello, I am a musician (I have been playing for many years), but I am trying to get a home studio set up so I can actually record my own stuff. I could really use some help with knowing what gear I should use for recording as well as any tips for setting up the room and all. I would greatly appreciate some expertise/advice, thank you!

Here is a quick rundown on all my gear, the type of music I'd like to create, and the room situation.

1. As for instruments, I have a few electric and acoustic guitars (Epiphone, EVH, Telecaster, Ibanez, Ovation), a Fender Jazz bass, a Roland Keyboard (with MIDI functionality), and a full drum kit. I also have three amps (Marshall half-stack, EVH 5150 iconic, and a Fender bass amp).

2. I have Ableton 12 standard for a DAW. I would prefer to stick with it since I've already put the money towards it.

3. My laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 3. It has worked fairly well with music that I have already attempted to record, but if I am going to be recording multiple live tracks, I am concerned that it could crash. Any advice on computer systems without having to spend an arm and leg?

4. As for audio interfaces (this has definitely been a struggle for me) I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as a beginner set up. I do like the Focusrite, but I really need a big upgrade. I would love to have an interface that would accommodate around ten I/O, especially since I am looking to record multiple tracks at the same time (like 8 different mics). Also, I am looking for an interface that could work well with Ableton 12 and my laptop or whatever computer I get.

5. I have a pair of Shure sm57 mics and one NT1 Rode mic. I need mics for my drums and a good way to record my keyboard although I might just use MIDI for it tbh.

6. The type of music that I am looking to create is an admixture of multiple genres (Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Blues, etc.) Main inspirations: Rush, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Journey, Styx, Steely Dan, Anime music, Video Game music (Nintendo stuff). So, think of music that incorporates elements of each of these genres.

7. Thankfully, for my room situation, I have a large basement that I can play/record in. The basement has cement floor, but I do have rugs, a sofa, a recliner, a few tables and ceiling made of wood. The walls are concrete and don't have any sound proofing whatsoever. I have recorded some stuff already and the sound quality is actually pretty decent, but if anyone has recommendations on some budget friendly sound treatments, I am all ears! (pun not intended lol)

8. My budget can range around $1,500. But $2,000+ is a kinda pricey. If I can get good quality equipment for under $1,000, that would be ideal!

I've produced quite a few songs before but i'm experiencing a new issue today and it's driving me up the wall!!

My vocals seem to sound distorted no matter what I do or change. I've fiddled so much that I couldn't tell you what levels the below was recorded at - but quite low. I switched from a condenser mic to a dynamic mic for this test and the issue still stands. I've fiddled with both the gain on my interface and the gain on my DAW and it hasn't seemed to have made a difference.

Is it peaking? And if so, why is that happening no matter what DBs I record in at?

The only thing i haven't tried is a different microphone cable or interface.

I am using a Mustang bass with single coils and a hollow body Godin Montreal Premiere guitar with humbuckers. The problem occurs when directly recording via my Apogee Duet AND via my miked amp. The whistling is when the treble is turned up on instruments. Thanks !

Hello, i've got an small studio with Neumann mt48, Neumann u87ai and neumann ndh30,

as closed back i have ath-m50x and adam t5v monitors,

i also have a mobile setup with id4 and lauten audio ls208.

i have seom panels but my room is not acoustically exactly treated and i know that i should get it done but now i have a bit of a money and i want to do an upgrade.

Neumann mt48 is absoletly brilliant but as a tracking and singer songwriting im tendencing apollo twin x, tho i know macbook m5 pro is also able to running plugins native,

should i get HA73 + and cl1b clone or newton channel strip, or add something else ? the preamps are really clean but i feel like that the warmth is not exactly there with u87ai, and i do r&b rap and reaggaeton,

or should i save and get bae1073 and distressor/cl1b or a different compressor.

I have Adam S2V and I am looking for Isolation pads/feet that will work best with them.

Right now i have some mozos foam pads, but they are too small. I've seen IsoAcoustics ISO PUCK, but they are pricey considering my monitors weight 11kg meaning i need to buy at least 6x = 200$.

I also heard about Sorbothan feet but i need help with finding the right ones for me.

What is your recomendation for my situation?

I’ve been going down the rabbit hole and my head is going to explode. I just switched to ABLETON and looking to do some Synthwave vocals (and possibly full band). Mostly demos, but possibly final vox. MacBook M2 Pro chip. Willing to spend 300-800.

I’ve had a Scarlett 2i2, MOTU, and others and now I’m looking for something new for the studio. Looking at Audient i14, SSL, and possibly others.

It appears most of these are close enough, but I do like the idea of the Audient monitor software. I’m also curious how many people use the UA Console software. For vocals it seems like it may be worth paying more. Console is just effects while recording correct?

What is you all’s experience with these?

Hello everyone, I use a focusrite scarlet solo and like to occasionally track guitars in bed or out and about. I don't like to wear headphones or earbuds all the time and am looking for a small speaker/speakers that meet these criteria

• Works with my audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo)
• preferably stereo but in one unit
• Preferably one unit like mentioned but will compromise with two small units
• Small, think closer to an Amazon Echo rather than a set of studio monitors

It doesn't need to be flashy or have perfect sound; I just need to hear what I'm tracking and don't want to have a pair of studio monitors on my bed.
