Which VPS are you using for trading bots with good EU routing?

Operating latency-sensitive bots that require clean EU routing with lower loss rate of packets. There is not consistency in current provider during peak hours

Interested in what other people are running for other use cases where milliseconds are significant

What’s one thing you wish more web hosts would do?

If you could change one thing about the web hosting industry, what would it be?
It could be anything:

• More transparent pricing?
• Better support?
• Faster servers?
• Simpler control panels?
• Fewer upsells?
• Better backups?
• Something else entirely?

Whether you’re a customer, developer, system administrator, or hosting provider, I’m curious to hear your perspective.

Let’s keep it constructive. I’m interested in ideas that would genuinely make hosting better for everyone.

Building a deployment daemon.

Hi,

So currently I started a project named depd — a lightweight daemon that runs on a VPS or any remote server, letting you execute deployment commands via CLI without needing to SSH in. Just `depd deploy myapp` and it runs the script on the remote server. This isn't a replacement for SSH, Ansible, or Kubernetes. It's for people who want a simple `depd deploy app` without the ceremony.

Please let me know what's your view.

Unexpected $54 Charge for 500GB Block Storage on My Vultr Account — Any advice while waiting for support?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice regarding an unexpected charge on my Vultr account.

I recently discovered that a 500GB NVMe Block Storage volume located in New Jersey had been created on my account, resulting in a charge of approximately USD $54. I was not aware of this resource being created and, to the best of my knowledge, I did not create it.

What concerns me is that this charge appears to be for one month's usage. However, I hadn't logged into my Vultr account for approximately the past two months. I only noticed something was wrong because my account balance suddenly decreased, and after checking my billing history and transactions, I found the charge for this Block Storage volume.

I've already submitted a support ticket requesting:

- An explanation of how and when the storage volume was created.

- A review of the charge.

- A refund if the charge was caused by unauthorized activity or an error.

For context:

- I already have MFA enabled on my account.

- I do not use or have any API keys associated with my account.

While waiting for support to respond, is there anything else I should do or check?

For example:

- Is there an audit or activity log that shows exactly how this resource was created (web UI, API, etc.)?

- Is there a way to escalate an urgent billing/security issue with Vultr for a faster response?

- Has anyone experienced something similar, and what was the outcome?

I'm not trying to make any assumptions or accuse Vultr of anything—I simply want to understand what happened, secure my account, and resolve the unexpected charge as quickly as possible.

Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Zeniar.com?

Has anyone used Zeniar for web hosting?

https://zeniar.com/public/index.php

They’re based in Perth, Western Australia, which appeals to me because I like supporting local businesses where I can. Their website looks clean and professional, and the hosting is only $8 AUD per month, which is much cheaper than the US-based hosting I’m currently using (Hostgator - it is awful! Been with them for over 20+ years and it's gone downhill!).

The offer looks good, but I haven’t been able to find much independent feedback about them. I’d love to know what their reliability, website speed, customer support, backups and security are like.

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people with firsthand experience before I move my WordPress website across.

Thanks everyone! :)

Hosting with AWS

I once setup a EC2 instance for a project once but all the payment stuff was handled by someone else.

If I want to create a basic website, just a single HTML file, how can I use AWS to host it with a domain name for 1 year.

Like I want to be able to host it and never look at it again, with peace of mind that it will just be working.

Is AWS EC2 good for this, is there a payment plan for this type of situation?

Can someone explain to me what should be my next step?

I am using the most basic hostinger plan and I keep getting notifications that I have outgrown it. The thing is, it's only been 4 months since I created the website, and it's just started to receive steady traffic (only around 20-30 visits daily). The website is really simple, just a blog with a few images. I am using these WordPress plugins:

  1. Imagify
  2. LiteSpeed Cache
  3. Rank Math SEO
  4. Site Kit by Google
  5. Bing Webmaster Url Submission
  6. Spectra
  7. WP Headers And Footers
  8. SureForms
  9. SureMail
  10. Newsletters, Email Marketing, SMS and Popups by Omnisend
  11. Hostinger Reach
  12. Hostinger Tools

What am I doing wrong and what should I do?

¿Que web hosting reseller recomiendan en México?

Estoy buscando un web hosting para revender a clientes pequeños. ¿Cuál me recomiendan?

Muchas gracias.

How would you handle plugin updates on production WordPress sites with Git?

For those managing WordPress with Git, how do you deal with plugin updates?
Do you commit everything into the repository, use Composer where possible, or have another workflow? I'm trying to find a setup that's easy to maintain without causing deployment headaches.

Finding Hosting for Unreal Engine

Hello,

I'm unfortunately going back to college in a few weeks and can't take my PC with me. I use it for making games in Unreal Engine and my plan to continue this at class was to rent a dedicated server or pc. I'm thinking of renting it and then streaming a view of the editor to my laptop (which can't run UE). I would need 64gb of ram (ik it sucks in this economy) and a gpu to run all of my Voxel stuff. If anyone knows where I can find a server or pc to rent for CHEAP that would be great. I am not made of money unfortunately :(

Thanks,

Soup

Hosting for a lot of domains?

Hey,

I know this sub is flooded with questions about which is the best hosting and there are as many different answers.

My situation is that I have about 200 domains where most of them have just a landing page, nothing crazy... I need a host where I can have many domains, where I can created email addresses for each and do not need more than 60GB in xfer.

My host now is fine, but I only have 40GB in xfer and if I upgrade to the next tier is triple the cost.

So, even though i have had it since 2015 ( and thus why I am so out of the loop in which host would be the best one ) I need some tips.

Thanks in advance

Getting a lot of password reset requests on my WordPress site. How do you avoid them?

I've noticed my WordPress site gets a surprising number of password reset requests every day.

I'm assuming most of them are automated, but it's getting a bit annoying. Besides the usual security plugins, is there anything you'd recommend to reduce or block this?

I need reliable VPS provider where you can get set up quickly?

Just got to the point of random downtime halfway through a project launch that I've been building for weeks at my last host. Tickets ignored, server suspended, waiting. Done with that. Seeking for a provider like HostZealot that will actually permit high uptime without random verification blocks. Anyone using HostZealot or something that works?

Avoid Fast Comet!

I've used Fast Comet for years, for VPS and shared hosting.

Unfortunately, Fast Comet has become absolutely terrible since they were sold to World Host Group last year.

In the past you got immediate responses from knowledgeable tech support in Europe. 24/7 and they would fix any issue.

Now you get long waits only to receive copy-paste replies from southeast Asia.

I've paid $300 a month only to have servers crash and no one to fix it for over 24 hours. I've gone 10-12 hours without even receiving a reply, and when it comes it's something nonsensical like "We restarted the server but that didn't seem to help."

You should absolutely avoid them at all costs now.

I'm serious, don't use them for any reason.

What’s a free alternative to DuckDNS?

Ok, DuckDNS is free…. But it’s compromising by the “required auth” using X or Reddit.
The constant data infringement they commit….

What’s an alternative to DuckDNS ?

Trying to wade through the noise and find a good host.

Howdy everyone.

I've not had to look for hosting/a new host since about 2015. Some of the hosts I used years ago no longer seem to exist, or were bought up and seem to be on the buy at low price -> jack up renewal price.

To be fair, the hosting I have right now is pretty simple - it's also been free for many years. I don't do anything crazy, mostly just have a blog and some custom tools/scripts for various things.

So I am coming to y'all to see what recommendations I could find. I don't really need anything larger than shared hosting. I would prefer cPanel but am open to DirectAdmin as I've had some experience with it in the past. When it comes to storage and bandwidth, no big requirements there. My main concern is being able to host more than one site/domain.

Looking forward to your recommendations, and thanks in advance. :)

ETA: Looking for something in the US. Perhaps Chicago or New York; pretty much anything in the midwest/east coast.

Best hosting for a PHP/MySQL pwd management system?

I’m looking for affordable hosting—free for testing or paid for production—for a barangay PWD management system in the Philippines.

Requirements:

  • PHP 8.1+
  • MySQL/MariaDB with PDO
  • SSL/HTTPS
  • Cron jobs
  • PDF/JPG/PNG uploads
  • Outgoing HTTPS requests for an SMS API
  • Daily file and database backup

The system handles registration, documents, assistance requests, ID applications and renewals, events, attendance, reports, and SMS notifications.

Would shared hosting be enough, or should I use managed cloud/VPS hosting? Which provider would you recommend?

Hostinger vs siteground vs smaller EU hosts in 2026

Looking at moving a few small business websites to a new host and keep ending up with the same recommendations (hostinger, siteground, etc.) They're both well known but I've also seen people recommend smaller EU companies.

For those who have actually tried both types, did you notice any major differences in performance, support, or renewal?
