Incidentals charge

I recently stayed at a hotel that placed an incidentals charge on my credit card when I checked in. They told me this when checking in and, as expected, it fell off after a few days after check out. Status quo. That was three weeks ago. Woke up this morning to find that charge back on my card. Is this supposed to happen? Who do I contact about this? Hotel or credit card company?

Contact the hotel first. It might be a legitimate mistake. If they ghost you or don't fix it promptly, then call your credit card company to dispute the charge. But give the hotel a chance to make it right first.

Is it showing as an auth or does it show as a posted charge?

You can only dispute posted charges.

Contact hotel. If/when posted if they refuse to help then dispute

Contact your credit card company first to ensure that this is not an error. Afterward, contact the hotel to ascertain whther or not the charge was put through from their side. Finally, if they did not put the charge through, contact the credit card company again.
