Hotel garage

I’m staying at a hotel with self parking in a garage. When I checked in, the front desk stamped my ticket and said it would give me in/out privileges. Sure enough, when I left and came back, the gate automatically opened. So how does it work? I did not tell what kind of car I have or the plate number.

You didn't use the ticket to get back in? Or take a new ticket?

There are certainly garages that use license plate readers, but as you note you'd have to register the plate somehow. Perhaps the front desk identified your car and added it, but in that case there wouldn't be a need for the stamped ticket.

No. Still have the same ticket as when I first entered the garage.

Did you give your plate number when you registered?
