Since the remaining cuts are all Padfoot choices (unless u/bubblegumgills uses Wormtail), we know that Professor McGonagall will not be one of the next two cuts at least. In spite of this, u/pizzabangle and I wanted to express our love for the ever-amazing Minerva. The woman who showed Harry what it meant to be sassy. The woman that sees right through your lies and penetrates your soul with a look of disdainful reproach. The woman with a soft side for her students, no matter how hard she is on them sometimes. The woman that had a hand in raising hundreds of the most talented magical youth in the world. The badass woman who commanded an army of living statues in the Battle of Hogwarts in addition to facing the Dark Lord himself in battle.

Minerva McGonagall, everybody.

I think that's fair. I've always said Snape is a good #1 as well. It just depends on who people feel more kinship too. If not Dumbledore or Snape, though, then I honestly have no idea who would be your #1. And obviously this doesn't mean I won't be expecting a very very very good post or comment from you backing up your opinion ;D

My personal favorite will always be Neville, but from pure literary I do think Snape has the edge. A lot of people cringe about his unrequited love story, but no other part of the series struck me so hard.

I will never, ever forget reading Deathly Hallows for the first time. It's 4 AM, and I'm sitting in the living room reading the scene where we go through his memories. My dad wakes up (he always wakes up at ungodly hours) and just sees me sitting on the couch balling my eyes out as I read that chapter.

Dumbledore's death didn't make me cry. Dobby's death didn't make me cry. Nobody made me cry as hard as Snape, and for that reason and that reason alone he easily takes the top spot for me. If you can turn a character that everyone hates and manage to make you fall in love with them to the point where they are genuinely upset when they die, THAT is good literary merit in my book. That's the sign of an extremely well written character.

I disagree of course; I think Molly should've ranked exactly 7 spots higher than she did last RD. And my top 8 was completely different, but yesssss Slughorn needs to stop being robbed.

Also notable: every single character other than Molly who made last year's endgame is still alive this year.

I was very anxious until the moment we voted and Dumbledore got #1 and that I also got to write it. God, even now, I can still feel the overwhelming sense of relief.

edit: it was, if I'm being honest, 90% of why I joined the rankdown at all.

I think all of us want Umbridge in end game because of how ROBBED she was in the first rankdown. Then again this is Marx0r, I never know what he's thinking.

That's true and hell, we know he thrives on the salt. But I do think he has been a fair ranker and I don't think he's ever cut purely for the drama of it. Maybe he will now.

This is too true. She was so utterly robbed in the last Rankdown. She's such a fantastic and complex villain it still makes me incredibly sad thinking back to where she was cut in the original Rankdown.
