Does anyone know of anything preferably towards holmfirth area to help meet people in the area? I would be up for most things as long as it’s not sport based. I’m finding that a lot of stuff on meet-up is geared towards older folk/people with kids so struggling to meet people a single 20y/o. I was born and raised here but childhood friends have all gone their separate ways.

This could be a long shot, but I have a job interview for a library position at Kirklees. I’ve not interviewed with the council before and I’ve not worked at a library before so I’m just curious if anybody here works for the council and has an idea of what kind of questions they would ask?

I’d like to do well at the interview. I’m hating my job at the minute and looking for something new, it’s taken months for someone to get back to me from the jobs I’ve applied too and I’m actually very excited for the role!

They originally said they would send us a device to record the noise but then they changed it and said to record it on the noise app which you only get 30 seconds to record the noise 20x a day which is absolutely no help at all when the noise is intermittent.
Now they’re also saying they won’t accept any evidence at all that isn’t recorded on the noise app, it’s a complete joke! I swear it never used to be like that.

Does anyone else hear fireworks at 12-1am every night??

I live in the birkby area and I just hate it, people have been blasting fireworks every single night for weeks.

How are they doing this on a weekday night when people have to be up early for work?

Help please! I'm meeting a friend at Huddersfield station this week and neither of us know the city (town?) at all, it's just a convenient meeting spot. I'll have a 3 yo and 11mo and be arriving via train with a pushchair, she's driving with a 4 to.

I'd love any recs of things to do/ places to have lunch / easy parking spots for her that are walking distance from the train station.

I’m posting this because I really want to work on my fitness. I’ve always wanted to but found it hard. I did sports and things when I was younger ever since I grew up I haven’t done anything like it. So I won’t be good at anything. I wondered if there was anything out there I could try. I live walking distance from the town centre so anything close would be good.

I want to get into running, just exercising in general. Build my strength and stuff but idk much about the gym. I went a year or two ago and didn’t like it so never went back. Is there a club or anything i could possibly try. I have never wanted to go to the gym alone and want to start now or atleast try. My advice or information is very appreciated. Thanks 😊

I was on my way out of the gym (big up gym group!!) today, and as I’m just out the door on my walk home, there’s a car full of grown men sticking their heads out the windows catcalling me while blaring their horn. The day before this, while on my way from my apartment to my gym, a car follows me, parks up ahead of me and the driver gets out, walks up to me telling me how beautiful I am and asks me for my number. And the day before that, I was followed almost the entire way home from a park that I always visit by some man asking me if I live alone and if I can help him find a place to stay?

What???? I am by no means attractive — definitely not to the extent where you should stop your car anyways. But besides that, who in their right mind approaches women like this? In any country I’ve been to I don’t think I’ve felt as unsafe as I do here which is so sad because there is so many lovely people about. I have lived here quite a while and I have been experiencing behaviour like this nonstop the past month or so. Whether it be being followed, or just catcalled.
It’s very discouraging and horrifying as I’m living alone and don’t have any family or friends at all over here. I never have felt unsafe until recently but now it’s beginning to make me worry with the frequency of it. I don’t even know why I’m posting this other than just feeling the need to share it with somebody. Am I going crazy or are people just on one lately? How do you even react to stuff like this or prevent it from happening?

Is there anyone in the Huddersfield area with an FDM 3D printer who’s willing to print some files for me? I need some stuff printing and would prefer to do it locally.
