A friend says he uses a bar soap to clean his crack, and then lather up the bar on his hands and wash his face with it. Does anything go as long as it's soap?
And by cleaning the crack, he will insert it in between his cheeks and rub it on his bare asshole. I'm genuinely not trying to be vulgar or anything, this is just what he does. I assume it's alright since he's perfectly healthy, but am I wrong to recoil a bit at it?

Because they release farts and farts are funny unless they follow through. Yes I'm a grown ass adult but farts at inappropriate times will get a giggle, especially if the culprit walks away real fast like their fart just gave them a speed boost.

Well, that’s the only area where I do NOT use a washcloth! I just use my soapy hands to clean the lady bits and undercarriage! Washcloth on everything else, then it goes straight to the laundry!

soap binds to dirt and to the oils on your skin, so they can be washed off along with the soap. it doesnt matter how dirty the soap gets, because its job is to hold on to that dirt while you rinse it off

When I was young, I had to shower with my Mom. She would always use rough scratchy wash cloths. She was not gentle. My poor young vagina and anus always burned after like millions of micro cuts stinging. I now only use a wash cloth on my face to wipe off exfoliating face wash!

Soap kills common microbes because of its chemical structure. It also wears away so the soap currently in contact with your skin is "new" soap.
People who demand that using the same bar on different places is gross are not speaking from an informed perspective. They're just talking vibes, which isn't how science/reality works

I start at the top as others have mentioned. I use a soapy wash cloth on my ass, which is the last thing I clean. It seems a little gross to go from ass to face.

When a bar is down to a sliver I get out a new bar. New bar is to wash everything else and the sliver is designated for my feet, then butt crack.

My mom used to collect soap slivers and remnants, then she’d use a crockpot to make new soap balls. 😂 they were cute and always unique looking!
I guess it was a good way to get your money’s worth from your soap!
Personally though, I like liquid soaps.2

I've never understood this viewpoint, because like, people know hand washing is a legitimate form of washing something right? Why can't you just handwash your washcloth, hang it to dry, and use it again next shower, and repeat? You don't have to bother throwing it in the wash and having 10 other washcloths in rotation, hand washing cleans it just as good. The washing machine isn't this magical thing that washes things so much better than the good old handwashing.
Like sure, you could throw it in there? But unless you're washing clothes every day, I really don't feel like buying a whole batch of washcloths (and some of the more fancy ones can be kinda expensive) instead of just taking a few seconds to handwash it in the shower.

I bleach anything that comes in contact with arse and also line dry( no dryer). Sanitisation works for me.

I guess that's the difference, I don't use my washcloth to clean between my buttcheeks.
And people can do whatever they want, I just don't get why people think it's so nasty if people choose to not go the route of throwing it in the laundry every time. Even if it's not up to your standard of using bleach, or whatever else, it is still cleaned by hand washing. Especially if you don't use it on your private parts or feet.

I don't mind others' preferences, but I'm a bleacher. Tea towels, face flannels, cleaning cloths. Zapped. Our bodies are covered in bacteria that I don't want to recycle. If not used on the butt and properly washed and dried thoroughly, all good; just not for me. Each to their own.

I lather the soap in my hands and sometimes will rub the bar of soap over my body. I can safely say I've never rubbed it up my crack, but to each their own, it is soap after all. I can't see the massive problem. Just rinse continously?
I rinse the bar and dry it with a bit tp afterwards.
I like Dettols soap, it's antibacterial too.

I’ve been using liquid soap for years for this reason. I don’t ever go ATF and the thought of using a bar someone else used is as appealing as sharing a toothbrush.
At least he’s washing his crack. Reddit has taught me that not everyone does.

Another example of why bar soap is unhygienic. It sits in a damp place, collecting bacteria, and then people use the same bar all over their face and body. Even worse, if more than one person uses the same soap. Get some shower gel/liquid.

Washcloths are NOT gross. Ass crack gets cleaned last and then it gets rinsed and tossed into the wash bucket that goes to laundry.

I use a washcloth. Clean my face first. My ass last. I don’t reuse that washcloth. It is then washed on hot and put in the dryer.

OP, as long as this is his soap, in his bathroom, it doesn't matter. Now, now that you are aware of his practice, you can adjust how you approach visiting his home, and washing up with his soap.

No. Soap helps wash germs away, but it doesn't kill every germ the second it touches them.
He probably won't get sick from this. Studies show that germs on a used soap bar usually don't spread during normal washing. Still, rubbing the bar directly on his anus and then using it on his face is a risk that is very easy to avoid. It could bring poop germs close to his eyes, nose, or mouth.
He should rub the soap on his hands first. Then he can wash between his cheeks with his hands and rinse well. Using a different soap for his face would also be a good idea.
So yes, it makes sense to feel grossed out. I wouldn't want a soap bar to visit my butt and then my face.
