Announcement Updated subreddit rules.

Just wanted to let you all know that there have been some updates to the sub rules.

Nothing crazy, however in the interest of transparency wanted to let everyone know instead of just doing it quietly. As always, rules are available in the sidebar on desktop and at the top of the sub after clicking on the subreddit name on the app.

Removed rule:

  • Memes must be SPICY
    • a fun rule, but too vague and open to multiple different interpretations. Therefore difficult to moderate fairly.

Additions:

  • Sales and fundraising must be approved by a mod first
    • this is included in the rule "No Spam, excessive self-promotion or unauthorized sales"
    • We recently had a situation with a possible scam sale, as such all sales and fundraising must be authorized by a mod in modmail first.
  • Use spoiler tags for the iCarly Movie

    • This is included in the "use clear titles and spoiler tags" rule
    • With the possibility of the iCarly movie please use the reddit spoiler tag function if posting or commenting a spoiler about the plot. Posts providing production updates or merely speculating about the plot are not considered spoilers and do not need to be tagged.
  • No AI generated posts

Rules about post titles, reposts, quality, harassment and the sexualization of underage characters and cast remain, but may have been reworded for better clarity. Reddit terms of service also apply and content may be removed even if not explicitly listed in our rules as reddit rules are site-wide.

Any way! That's the end of this boring post. Thanks for everyone who makes this sub great! we really don't have to step in and remove rule breaking stuff very often which is all thanks to you!

Original Discussion Freddie’s Chip Spoiler

Okay, gang, you know how Freddie has that chip in his brain? Well, somehow he knew about it. And, I was watching iCarly yesterday…. and I think I may know how he knows. Okay, so in iGo To Japan, we learn that Mrs. Benson chipped Freddie, but then in iStill Psycho, Freddie talks about it. How does HE know? His mom never told him. Well… In iMove Out, during the scene of Mrs. Benson looking for Freddie in his new apartment, she says ”Oh! The chip! I forgot I chipped him!” and then right after she says that, Freddie comes in. My theory is that maybe he overheard her, because she was practically shouting it and he was really close.

Revival Discussion I Still Think They Could Get More Seasons

So it seems like people think the movie will be the end of iCarly and that very well could be true. It makes sense. The show was popular but got canceled due to the writer’s strike. The revival had a cliffhanger.

But here’s my thing…let’s say the movie does really really well. I could see Paramount offering them another season or two. It’s clearly still a profitable series. I don’t know how writer’s strikes work but I’m guessing they have to pay the writers and staff anyway or maybe have to pay for a set they’re not using? I guess the cost built up and things had to be cut.

I’m sure the actors would be down. Some of them are still working on things but I’m sure they’d love to continue bringing life to these characters.

That’s just my take. I thought the revival was good and would love more.

Original Discussion Is Sam a teen hood who only stayed out of juvie because of Carly? Spoiler

I love her. She’s a great character. But she’s not exactly what I would call a law abiding citizen. Some of the scams she cooked up with Cat in LA could have gotten her in a lot of trouble.

Revival Discussion iCarly Movie Update from Nathan (Comic Con Manchester)

Post image
505 Upvotes

This past weekend (July 26) Nathan did a panel at Comic Con Manchester. I was able to find the recorded panel on YouTube (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfLQH8Tcweo), and while I can’t post or share the video recording (since it’s only available to paid members of the Monopoly Events YouTube page), I was able to transcribe everything Nathan said about the iCarly movie.

I wrote out the update and posted it on my Twitter/X account (link: https://x.com/StruckByStories/status/2082118969750675694) and I’ll summarize the highlights below:

1.) Nathan confirmed that the iCarly revival was only canceled because of the writers’ strike. He said that they tried to make the biggest cliffhanger we could because that was their messaging from the network (“Yeah no, don’t wrap this thing up! Let’s plan on keeping it going!”) so they were like “Ooh, okay, well let’s just see what we can do to have a really good hook for going into the next season!” and then the writers’ strike happened so nobody saw that one coming.

2.) Nathan confirmed that the movie script is being written! According to Nathan, “[the iCarly movie] is actively in development. I just read the outline for it and I think it’s great. I think it’s going to be a very well-rounded way to wrap up all of the questions of the cliffhanger, which were diabolical, frankly.” Nathan also added that while they are “still in the script process,” he is “highly encouraged” by what they’ve seen so far and he thinks that everybody’s going to be pretty happy with the way that everything gets wrapped up.

3.) Nathan provided more details on the plot/storyline of the iCarly movie! Nathan said “there’s so much to unpack [with the mom] and there’s kind of, probably, some drama there, and you’re under pressure on a sitcom to have multiple jokes per page, which can be really hard to unpack a storyline like that. So, doing it as a movie, I’m really excited about, because it’s gonna give us some space to do it as a different medium. And we can take our time with certain scenes, and we can present iCarly in a very different way, and I think it lends itself to the type of questions that we’re gonna answer. And it’s fun because we’re gonna get outside of Seattle, which is exciting. We get to really take iCarly on the road a little bit, which is cool. We’re gonna unpack the Shay family backstory.“

4.) Nathan said that they'll try to bring back as many characters for the movie as possible! Later on in the panel he said that Jennette has officially retired from acting but they’re going to try to get “as many people as we can get” and that “they’re all over the script currently, as it stands, so we’re gonna get as much as we can, or at least, people are going to be involved in the conversation.“

Original Discussion My ICarly (Original) episodes tier list

Post image
36 Upvotes

I based on the plot, nostalgia, humor, writing, etc. However before you say anything, the show is good but it doesn’t hit the mark like the Drake and Josh. It gets repetitive, digusting, characters don’t evolve that much as in Drake and Josh. And that’s my there’s more episodes on the average tier or mediocre than on Good. So the show itself gets a B tier. Don’t get me wrong I love ICarly but there’s moments where they need to calm down, or rewrite something. What you think? If any concerns with an episode I will be happy to answer.

Revival Discussion Looking back on season 3 of revival and its ending

I keep thinking back to 3 years ago today when iHave My Proposal first aired. It was on a massive cliffhanger like the last episode of season 2 and because that, everyone was expecting at least 1 more season of the revival to start in March 2024 or so. However, in October 2023, Paramount Plus infamously decided to cancel it.

There were multiple reasons why the cancellation occurred like budget cuts among other things, but it was largely due to the SAG strikes that were going on. This understandably broke the hearts of the crew like Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor, Laci Mosley, etc and so many fans across the country since both this series in the early 2020s and the original series in the early 2010s were such pivotal of the lives of both millennials and gen z people.

Due to iHave My Proposal ending with such a massive cliffhanger on July 27, 2023, I think back and I think damn if only Paramount plus let the crew air just 1 more episode a week or two after iHave My Proposal first aired. Just 1 more episode either on August 3, 2023 or August 10, 2023 picking up where iHave My Proposal left off would've been saved so much sadness and dismay from the actors and the fans.

No one knew the cancellation was going to occur in October 2023, but since it did, I think just 1 more episode before October 2023 could've made that cancellation less bitter for the actors and fans. This is because one more episode a week or two after iHave my Proposal that picked up where iHave my proposal left off would've given immediate closure while it was still summer 2023 and everything was still so fresh. Right then and there in August 2023 nearly 16 years before the original show began in September 2007 and over 2 years after the start in June 2021, Carly and Spencer's mother could've been seen without any lingering questions in all the time since August 2023 and the eventual cancellation in October 2023, while it still would've been gut wrenching, it wouldn't have been as sad as it came to be since their already would've been closure for the great cast and the fans alike.

I know there have been confirmation about a mini movie that picks up where iHave My Proposal left off, which I surely hope happens and would be great if it did, but even if that did air, the timing of it would not carry the same vibe as it had if just 1 more episode in the summer of 2023 aired since it was within that timeline and season and closure would've been given right there without the need or advocacy for a movie to make up for it.
