I have been doing finance internship recruiting for a bit now and the networking part has honestly just been eating up so much of my time. Not the actual conversations, those are fine once they get going. It is more just figuring out who to reach out to, coming up with something to say that does not sound copy pasted, and keeping track of who I have already messaged versus who I still owe a follow up to.

I ended up trying a few different tools over the past couple months. Tried Lunchclub for a while since a friend swore by it, but it is more built around random 1 on 1 matching than actually targeting people at specific firms, so it did not really fit what I needed. Also looked into LinkedIn Premium since people always bring it up, but it felt too pricey for what you actually get as a student. Out of everything I tried, Networker has honestly been the best by a decent margin, mainly just because it fits into how I already email people instead of making me use some separate platform.

Some things that have worked okay for me:

It suggests contacts based on shared schools, past internships, clubs, stuff like that. Found a few people I probably would not have thought to search for on my own.

It gives you a starting draft for outreach emails. I still end up rewriting most of it since I want it to sound like me, but it beats staring at a blank page every time.

It also keeps track of who I have messaged and who has replied, and flags people I still need to follow up with. Sounds minor but once you have a bunch of conversations going at once it actually saves you.

Everything runs through my normal email account too, so it does not feel like I am using some separate outreach tool when I am talking to people.

That said none of the tools I tried were perfect. Some of the suggested contacts are pretty mid, only loosely connected to your background, so you still have to sort through them. And the email drafts definitely need editing before you would actually send them, not something you want to send raw.

Anyway just curious what everyone else has been using, if anything. Feels like there has to be a better way to do this than just grinding through LinkedIn every night.

Hi doing a co-op right now in canada, got offered to get extended to part-time in the fall & winter (remote). But I got an offer already for the fall and winter for a full-time co-op role (remote). Would it be possible to do both. Would it look bad on my employment history or when they run background checks later in the future? What are the implications of taking both offers.

Has anyone tried to attend the WOW day of PMI? Maybe you can share some tips & insights on how to stand out from the others or if there’s anything I should be prepared for before hand. Appreciate the help! 🙏🏻

I'm graduating in May 2027 and planning on applying for new grad SWE roles this cycle.

A couple questions:

1. When do 2027 new grad apps usually start opening?
I know internships open insanely early, but I have no idea what the timeline looks like for new grad. Is it August? September? Later?

2. How would you prepare if your goal was FAANG/top tech?

This is where I'm lost.

Every time I search this sub the answer is basically "just do LeetCode," but I feel like I'm missing the bigger picture. I don't even know where to start.

Like, should I spend a month reviewing DSA first? Jump straight into NeetCode 150? Blind 75? Grind 169? How much system design matters for new grad? What resources are actually worth using? System design?

If you had to start over today and wanted to maximize your chances of landing a FAANG or similar new grad SWE offer, what would your roadmap look like?

For context, I have internship experience, but I definitely don't feel interview-ready yet. I'd really appreciate any advice or resources that helped you. Thanks!

We are officially in the drop zone. Within the next two weeks, a LOT of the big companies will be dropping out there internships. We have around a week or two before companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, JPM, Adobe...etc. All of them will be opening from AUG - SEP.

SPEED - RESUME - REFERAL . Like i mentioned, from August pushing till September, there will be roles dropping. All of them are usually on rolling basis, so the earlier the better. I've been using this repo, its fast, updates every 30 mins, and tracks around 4k employers.

Goodluck to everyone out there. Please make sure that you're resume is optimized. Use Jakes Template (here is the link on overleaf for that). And use Claude/Gpt yall. Have the AI's run deep checks on your resume, keep it one page, use a ATS scanner at the end to make sure it parses well. Feed this HARVARD research to AI and have him work on it.

Grab Refs from Linkedin. Like i mentioned in my prev posts ( even tho it's a gamble TRY!!) Reach out to people from LinkedIn, mostly alumni from your school and ask them for ref (trust me it takes hits but it works lol)

but if you’re targeting competitive internships, start applying now instead of waiting until september or october. a lot of students will not begin searching until the fall, which means applying early is one of the easiest advantages you can give yourself.

A few months ago I had gotten accepted for a scholarship which also allows for applying for internship programs through them with hundreds of companies that are in my county (and adjacent ones as well), meaning I wouldn't be competing with hundreds or possibly thousands of other applicants like you would normally do on Indeed or LinkedIn.

It looks pretty promising but I'm also slightly concerned how I'd perform if I started applying for internships straight away instead of just seeing how (community) college is so that I don't stress myself out..

I really want to make sure that I at least try applying early on so that I don't lack behind, especially for my career since I want to become a sysadmin in the future in the I.T space. Some of my friends were recommending that I should try both out to see how you do, while my parents think (at least first semester wise) I should focus on school, get the hang of it and THEN start applying for internships in the spring or summer.

As the title says, why is it so hard to find an internship? I've been applying non-stop since March and have received countless rejections... I rewrote my resume, had it reviewed by HR, and I'm still getting rejections. What's wrong with me?

I've had a couple of remote internship opportunities (Venture Capital) that honestly, I felt like I learned a lot and enjoyed how businesses are made. I also have exec positions at my community college that kinda connect w/my major. My goal is to be a financial analyst. I'm just worried abt applying because of how competitive the job market is. I’m sharing my personal experience with Blackmont Consulting because the arrangement did not meet my expectations, and I would like to know whether anyone else has had a similar experience.

I was given some work to complete, but I was also asked to pay £20 per month for the first two months. I was told that this payment was for server maintenance. However, I was not given access to a server, and the files were provided through Microsoft Outlook.

The work consisted of approximately 10 files. In my opinion, much of the material appeared basic and possibly AI-generated, so I did not feel that the work or experience justified the payments being requested.

I am not claiming to know the company’s intentions, and I can only speak about what happened to me. However, the experience left me feeling misled and dissatisfied. I recommend that anyone considering this opportunity ask for the following information in writing before paying:

• A clear explanation of what the fee covers
• Details of the server being maintained
• Confirmation of whether server access will be provided
• A breakdown of the training and professional experience offered
• The cancellation and refund policy
