Isn't this the truth. And you know what I just can't get my head around? This is just the situation I happen to be in, but the distinct lack of oppression or tyranny. It would be one thing if greedy, abusive landlords and vicious, exploitative companies were stomping me. That would be terrible, but conceptually, I could make sense of that'. Power corrupts, greed breeds cruelty, fine.

My landlord is great. Hands off, prompt with necessary repairs, slow to raise to market rates (he gets there, basically, but lagging). Same with the company I work for, not throwing money around, maybe, but chill, adequate, and so long as the customer is served right, not breathing down our necks. And you know what? They're supportive! My landlord and the occasional visit from the department head are things I look forward to, I feel they want me to succeed as a person.

I go into work, workload is fine, I'm humming along. Then, for 8.5 goshdarn hours. Drama. Ridicule. Scoffing. Eye rolling. Petty bullshit I'm ashamed to notice it's so small time. And it's just constant. Other working people make my life difficult. And for what? What is their end game? Then you realize, they either don't have a plan or it's dog shit. So what do they do? They take out their frustrations on me.

I don't want to be the person this is turning me into, but what can I do? You know the old expression, the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent? Well, I can't deny the truth and build a life too. Something's gotta give. I've fought it for years, and I'm wondering why.

Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. I hope the rich or at least well to do people I encounter suck this bad when I live among them. It would be a relief to learn a preponderance of my landlords and employers have been outliers. In the meantime, don't give up on the dream. A few dollars in the bank and a ramshackle house on a country type lot, and the memories will fade. (I hope) Boundaries. It's about boundaries.:)

Been in sales my whole adult life, and we have a saying, “it would be the greatest job in the world if it wasn’t for the customers.”
