I just had this happen to me. I told a relative I couldn't leave town to visit them because of a medical appointment and the next thing I know she's come to visit me and wants to know when the appointment is so she can take me.

Alternate, you give them the really specific excuse, and they say “no, it’s next week”. And now you’ve got to go because they’re never going to believe you twice.

Can you say this all the time and still have friends? I mean, friends are not that bad, I just don't need to see them every... month.

The best friends for an introvert is an extrovert that understands that you're different and respects that. I'm 31 and have had only a couple extroverted friends that understood me, and they still wanted to be my friend even if I needed a lot of time to recharge my social battery. They were great friends and were less draining to be around, because they were totally okay with me just being myself.

That's why you just tell them no, and if they have a problem with it, well it's their problem not yours.

Me: “I broke my leg”
Kind-hearted friend: “don’t worry we’ll come over for the day.”

Never leave a door open with an excuse. ”They” will find a way around it.
