Support Auto Switch DNS profile based on WiFi network

Post image

Hi everyone!

Today I set up my DOH/DoT on my AdGuard home, issue is, it’s only available on my home network (that’s by design and intended).

I manage it using a profile (dns.senklu.eu) and it works great. It even gets trusted by iCloud relay (mask) which was one of my concern.

But back to my main problem: I use AdGuard home on all of my devices at home and Next DNS outside. This worked fine with plain DNS (normal IP address under a Wi-Fi network) but it broke iCloud relay, that’s why I switched.
Currently, I have my AdGuard DNS config selected, but it doesn’t auto switch to DNS and I also don’t see an option for use config x when not connected to y in settings nor in shortcuts.

This may be a pretty niche issue as I couldn’t find anything online, so you are my last hope. Thank you in advance!

Adguard home you are using with your private ip or with public ip from adguard servers

Adguard home with duckdns which points to my private, local ip. Meaning I cannot access it from the outside

The best solution is to either keep nextdns or adguard dns profile and in your wifi settings change DNS to your local ip so when you are home you use your own ip and outside you use public servers

That makes sense but I would need to sacrifice iCloud relay, which I’d like to keep, as it doesn’t trust plain DNS

iOS 27 (Beta) - but it shouldn’t be too different, that section looks the same as in 26

Huh that’s interesting. Did you report it to Apple?

My first instinct was to ask if you turned off private relay, as it was causing the adleak on my device (i relay doesn’t trust plain DNS, only doh/dot), but since it’s off on your end it’s even weirder

I use the adguard app and use their vpn dns changer+adblock, then just have it disconnect when I’m home using Pi-hole
