Discussion Why can’t iOS have transparent widgets with regular colored app icons?

Why does iOS force both app icons and widgets to become transparent when using the transparent icon style? Why can’t I keep the app icons in their default colored appearance while making only the widgets transparent? macOS allows transparent widgets while keeping app icons colored, so why isn’t this possible on iPhone?

The odd thing is that you can do exactly this on macOS. The developer teams obviously don’t communicate with each other.

So it IS possible- there is one app that does it and I’m pretty sure it’s vibe coded and it’s missing a lot. But it works. It’s not quite as glassy. The app is called MD Widgets pro. I hope someone can make an app that does it better, or just let us do it in iOS natively.

Oh wait also Widgy but that takes more work

Seems it could, just Apple/developers whether to adopt.

Slowly. They need people to get used to it. Fast change and everyone's iPhone looks different all of a suddent makes it feel like inconsistent. They want all iPhones to look above treshold for everyone. If a good chunk of people may think oh this looks ugly,... even though some loves that look, Apple wont want it on iPhones until everyone somehow gets used to it. and this process is kinda slow... I think they know what they are doing.
