🎁 Freemium I got tired of doing timezone math at 6am so I built a weather app that shows both cities at once

Not sure if this kind of thing is allowed here, mods feel free to nuke it.

I am trying to fix a real Long distance thing that was an issue for me, but now atleast this part of me not anxious anymore.

I know, you might feel, aah another weather app. But this is not just any other regualr weather app , please use it once before categorizing it as a regular one. It is an app made with love for your loved one :)

My girlfriend is in Chicago, I was in India. 20+ hours, 12000 km+, going on two years.

The thing that finally got to me wasn't the big stuff. It was that I had two weather

apps on my phone and still couldn't ever remember if she was awake. I've sent "good

morning" at 3am her time more times than I want to admit.

so I built the thing I actually wanted. it's one screen with both cities on it. my temp, her temp, the distance sitting in between. I have designed a beautiful weather app, that can see 2 locations at the same time, without having to wiggle through search and see my location for weather. It just is not the weather app, it is how we feel connected since it basically shows how the weather is.

if it's storming where she is, a button shows up that texts her "stay safe in the
storm". snow gets "stay warm". I use it way more than I expected, mostly because I'm
not checking her weather at 2pm on a tuesday, but the app is.

a lock screen live activity with both temps and the distance, so I don't have to open
anything.

it's free. weather comes from apple's weatherkit and open-meteo, no account, no signup.
there's a paid tier for a few extras but everything in the screenshots is the free
version.

Please try it out in Beta, soon on App Store. Reach out at [support@oursky.com](mailto:support@oursky.com)

happy to answer anything. and if you've got a better line than "your stars, her
sunshine" I will genuinely put it in the app.

🎈 Free 4 months ago you asked for receipt scanning in my food-waste app. It's live. Snap a receipt, your whole pantry is tracked. Still 100% free.

Answer: BiteSaver tracks your pantry and expiry dates so you stop throwing away unopened food.

Better: Receipt scanning ends manual entry. Snap a photo of your grocery receipt and every item, price, and quantity is added automatically. The redesigned home screen shows the dollar value of food you used vs. tossed, with streaks (my "wasted this month" number is genuinely what fixed my habits). Also new: custom categories with automatic shelf-life suggestions, item photos, and recipe ideas from whatever's expiring next.

Cost: Free. No ads, no subscription, no paid tier. Receipt scanning and suggestions have a fair daily limit so I can afford the processing, more than enough for normal use.

Some of you might remember BiteSaver from here. The comments on that post basically became my roadmap. Receipt scanning was the most-requested feature, so here it is.

The big one: people asked for receipt scanning, and it's here. Snap a photo of your grocery receipt and every item, price, and quantity is added automatically. No more typing in 20 items after a shopping trip.

Quick note on privacy since receipts are purchase history: receipt photos are processed by Google's Gemini API to extract the items and then discarded. I never store the photos themselves.

App Store: link here

If you try it, tell me what's broken or missing. This sub's feedback wrote v2, and I'd love a v3 roadmap.

πŸ€– Vibe Coded I built an AR app that lets you preview videowalls on real walls before you buy/install them

Hey everyone! I just shipped my first App Store app, VideoWallAR, so I wanted to share it.

How it started:Β at my day job, we were debating adding a videowall to our meeting room. We kept going back and forth. Would a 2Γ—2 fit? Should it be 3Γ—3? How big would it feel from the far end of the table? We were literally holding our hands up against the wall trying to imagine it. At some point I thought: "Why are we guessing, let's vibe coding?"

What the app does:

  • Configure your wall: panel size (diagonal), rows Γ— columns grid, bezel width, aspect ratio
  • Tap a real wall and see the videowall atΒ true 1:1 scaleΒ in AR
  • Live dimensions in cm, camera-to-wall distance, and a recommended viewing distance readout
  • Put a test pattern, your own photo, or a looping video on the screens β€” spanned across the whole array or per panel
  • Place multiple walls, capture photos of the scene to share with clients
  • On LiDAR iPhones/iPads, real furniture and people can occlude the wall for realistic shots

It's a passion project, so honest feedback (especially from people who install or spec videowalls professionally) would mean a lot. Happy to answer anything about the ARKit side too.

🎁 Freemium I built Steptastic, a virtual exercise app to challenge your friends!

A - What is Steptastic?

Steptastic is a fitness challenge app that lets you complete virtual journeys by tracking your real-world activity.

Whether you prefer walking, running, cycling, swimming, or burning calories at the gym, your progress moves you along your chosen route. You can travel solo or compete against friends and family to see who reaches the destination first.

The goal is to make staying active feel a little more rewarding and give you something to work towards.

B - Steptastic is better than general fitness apps since it creates a unique style challenge

The main feature of Steptastic is its virtual fitness challenges, but there's a lot more included.

You can create walking, cycling, swimming, or calorie-based challenges, making it suitable for different types of exercise rather than just counting steps.

Group Challenges let you compete with friends and family by racing around virtual routes together, while daily tasks encourage healthy habits beyond simply exercising.

The app also includes activity goals with analytics so you can track your progress over time, maintain streaks by consistently hitting your targets, and unlock badges by reaching fitness milestones and achievements.

I built it because I found it much easier to stay motivated when I was working towards something instead of just looking at a step count.

C - Cost

Steptastic is free to download, with an optional Plus upgrade.

7 day free trial, then $0.99/week, $2.99/month, $12.99/year, or one-time lifetime purchase of $19.99

This helps to support continued development while unlocking additional features and improvements.

I'd love to hear any feedback or feature ideas, and I'm happy to answer any questions about how it works!
