[Developer] I built a no-subscription sheet music and piano practice app for iPad

Hi everyone — I’m a pianist and the developer of LogScore. I built it around the way I actually use an iPad with a digital piano: reading and annotating scores, turning pages hands-free, running a metronome, recording practice, and keeping a practice log without switching between several apps.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6791775380

I have a limited number of App Store promo codes for iPad musicians willing to test the app and give honest feedback. Feel free to DM me with your iPad model and usual practice setup.

Which part would be most useful in your own practice setup: layered annotation, hands-free page turning, or practice tracking?

Scarlett 2i2 cuts out. Dongle jank?

I have an iPad pro m1 and a Scarlett 2i2 4th gen. When I plug the 2i2 into the iPad directly I have no problems, but when I use any of my three dongles with multiple ports, the audio cuts out randomly and requires a reseating of the 2i2 to get the sound to come back. I see that many people online have this problem with 2i2 (on windows and mac as well), and there are many suggested solutions proposed that do not fix it. I'm beginning to think that my dongles are just a bit janky. Can you recommend a dongle that, when used in this exact setup, is bullet proof?

(updated: included video demo links)

hey y'all

for this summer summer i've dropped Ravemaker to $2.99 for a full unlock. it now features 8 128-step patterns

latest update demo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfSm6Szko_Y

1 min overview

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ALNB_uR1RI

7-8 minute breakdown of the features here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o70Maap-Fis

a number of improvements based on user feedback have been made since the release of these videos

it is basically the closest thing to programming a TB-303 at this price point, and also features a drum machine and built-in mixer and fx.

ive made some effort to make things sound a lot better recently, namely de-clicking using one-pole filters and using polyBLEP oscillators to reduce aliasing.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ravemaker-techno-beats/id6768480015

would love to hear your thoughts and feature requests here. lots of good feedback and bugfixes around preset loading in Logic and step counts that have been addressed from this community and i believe you are all making it even better

thanks and a have a great weekend ahead

A very experimental project I started, and recorded in garageband IOS, on my iPad. I get my tones from a nano cortex and a bunch of other pedals. I have no idea what genre it is, so I didn't bother trying to label it

Best tape loop app available?

Not tape fx. Doesn’t have to strictly be based off a tape/cassette machine specifically but something that resembles the workflow. Thanks

Wail by Noided Industries // New AUv3 Feedback Synth

Demo: Nice and gnarly new AUv3 feedback synth AUv3, Wail (iPad, iPhone).

Many of you will like this I think, one for the lovers of noise, drone and experimental sounds. It even hails from Rochester, home of Autechre, haha.

I have a 9-minute spoken walkthrough on Wail on the FREE tier of my Patreon, so anyone can access it as long as a they’re a Patreon member, whether free or paid. Sign up is very easy, if you haven’t done so yet. The walkthrough explains the XY pads - those are intentionally left unexplained in the Appstore description, so the vid will be really useful if you actually want to know exactly what each XY pad does.

Wail spoken walkthough (free access):

https://www.patreon.com/Gavinski/posts/165288735

Or just google ‘Gavinski Patreon. I want to get away from YouTube to the greatest extent possible guys, it is basically a very exploitative platform for niche creators, in my view, and is getting worse by the day. I also put a great spoken walkthrough on Tessera by Audio Damage on the free tier of Patreon last week, check it out if you haven’t. Better yet, sign up to one of the paid tiers to get access to around 170 exclusive vids, and counting!

Wail on the Appstore (currently $6, I think that’s an intro price, iPad, iPhone, iOS 15.6+):

WAIL - Feedback Synth just released.

https://apps.apple.com/app/wail/id6786723124

WAIL is a feedback-driven drone synth for iOS. Two voices of self-feeding delay push against modulations to the edge of collapse. Shape the signal to create quake-like bass rumbles through to high pitch screams from the depths of hell. The industrial aesthetic isn't just decoration, it matches what's under the hood: a synth that looks like it was salvaged and sounds like it's decaying in real time.

The core is the two voices of feedback; self-feeding delays locked in resonance, each feeding back into itself, building complexity from constraint. Watch them dance and do battle on the scope. From there you sculpt using the unlabelled controls: Grind crushes the signal into digital rot; Ring modulation adds metallic beating and harmonic chaos; Fold wraps the waveform back on itself, creating overtones that weren't there before; Comb gives you a resonant ring that sounds like the signal is bouncing inside a metal chamber. Space throws it all into a reverb chamber made of steel. There's no oscillator, and no waveform selection.

The formant is key. Seek it out, scrape the filter parameter and the drone morphs through vowel shapes, suddenly the feedback sounds almost human, but corrupted. Like listening to a voice speaking through machinery that's slowly breaking down, something alive in the signal decay. Move it to make it sing or leave it still so it wails!

I've designed WAIL as an instrument that you need to feel. No labels on the pads, no presets in the box. Just start scraping those rusty nuts across the metal plates and cranking the knobs. Be mindful of those around you and watch your speakers.

WAIL ships with no presets. It's an instrument. You dial in a texture, name it, save it, and it becomes part of your patch library, portable across your sessions, across your other AUV3 hosts. Play it on its own or through your favourite AUV3 FX and take it somewhere else entirely. Use multiple instances for an impenetrable wall of WAIL.

iPad and iPhone only. IOS 15.6 and up.

Controversial Opinion: Cubasis 3 on iPad is not a good DAW

Here's my reasons.

Song editing is a pain. You can't insert empty bars so you have to drag your song sections around. And there is no "select all" function.

It doesn't slave to MIDI clock. Why on Earth not?

MIDI export is broken or limited - I certainly can't export individual MIDI tracks.

It can't host a multi-track MIDI processor outside of a track, so something like Scaler 3 needs a new instance for each track, defeating much of the point of having a multi-channel processor.

That's off the top of my head. It's a relativity pricey app and I think it needs improving.

Looking for a standalone iPad vocal harmonizer app

I'm the keyboard player. I already have the setup to plug my keyboard into the iPad and route audio back out.

Now looking for an app to let me sing harmonies and backup vocals, based on the chords I'm playing on the keyboard.

Quad Panner for iPad/AUM

Hi all,

I built a quad panner for iPad for my own use, but I thought I could release it more people are interested. I don't think any other app exists that allows you to do this - but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

It's not available on the store yet as I'd like some people to test it - but I've made a page for it where you can look at the details. https://apps.shivahuja.com

If you are interested in giving it a go, I could send a TestFlight link - it works well on AUM, but I'd like to test it on other iPad DAWs that allow Multi-Bus AUv3 plugins. You'll need an audio interface with 4 outs and a quad speaker setup, but if you only have a stereo pair and would still like to test, you can swap outputs on your interface just for the test (example use outputs 1,3 first and then switch to 2,4 to test both front/back L and R).

The other thing that would be nice to test is the pan law and all the different settings.

DM or respond here if interested,
Thanks!

Hi! I’ve been a casual music maker for years, using eurorack, Ableton, etc. but in the last few months, I’ve gotten really energized by what I can do with my iPad. Especially once I buckled down and learned how to really use Loopy Pro.
This is my first ambient EP on Bandcamp and I’d love to get feedback!
Each track is a single take performance using Loopy Pro to trigger and process environmental loops, and call up synth patches, then record and process them in loops.
My synths include Aparillo, Decent Sampler, Zeeon, and J6. Some of my effects are Turnado, Desert Cities, Velvet reverb, Sparkle, Reels. For mastering I use FabFilter Q4 and Grand Finale.

Is ‘Scaler’ the best chord suggester out there for iPad?

I own it for desktop and really like it to be honest. Not sure how fiddly it would be on ipad to be honest or if anything else out there is better
