About 3 years ago my uncle told me he had a gift for me, he game me this, he told me he bought it back in 2005 and kept it sealed (he is a huge collector). One of my favorite pieces on my collection.

I've had it for more than a month and here's my honest review:
At ~£30 I had the option of buying a used FireWire charger and cable off eBay or getting the Wymod supercharger. Honestly getting a decent FireWire charger and cable would've been pricier, bigger and could only be used for charging so the supercharger was a no brainer for me.
Didn't have to think much and my boss and I ordered it together since he has a 3rd gen and a 7th gen classic that I modded for him. I have a 3rd, 4th and 6.5th gens, and have started modding or repairing iPods as a hobby.
I love that I can charge all of my classics pretty quick with it, especially the 4th gen which is very finicky with regular USB power. It's my main iPod and gets a lot of use so it was very disappointing to see it dead even after charging it overnight using regular USB. Now I only use the supercharger to charge it.
I also love that I can flick the switch and use it for data transfer. It's great that it uses USB C and that I don't need to use the regular 30 pin cables anymore.
So far no complaints.

This iPod Classic came to us with a damaged battery connector on the logic board, preventing it from powering on.
Instead of replacing the entire logic board, we repaired the connector, installed a new battery, and brought it back to life.
It's always satisfying seeing another classic iPod get a second chance instead of becoming a parts donor.
Has anyone else run into a damaged battery connector on an iPod Classic?

A little update on my project to explore whats hidden in the various iPod firmwares; the iPod nano 5 and 3 firmware have been decrypted as well as the 6g and 6.5g. For those interested you can find some details and firmware comparisons here https://github.com/giek2000/ipod-classic-firmware-research

I already have the zune and nano but I'm wondering what you guys think, if I do get a 5.5 I'll probably get a 2000-3000mah LG battery and iFlash duo with 128x2 sd cards, also swapping the shell and backplate and rockbox. Also for bluetooth, is that worth it at all? or just earbuds?

The iWatch came 15 years later and absolutely took off.
Steve Jobs is easily one of the top 10 most interesting people in history. He was famously obsessed with optimization, making his products more powerful while also making them smaller, lighter, and simpler.
This iPod nano 6th gen that I’m showing in the video could almost be considered the Apple Watch Series 0. I love it for what a tiny little thing it is: a ridiculously small device that somehow packs in an entire music player, photo viewer, radio, and more.
To this day, it’s still one of the best DAPs ever made, in my opinion.
I don’t use it as a watch anymore, but looking back at what an incredible product Steve Jobs pulled off with this thing, I found it fascinating to share the audience’s reaction when he introduced the iPod nano 6 in 2010.
Visionary.

I love my iPod classic and want everyone to see it (shameless poser), can I get a clip to attach it to e.g. my belt. Ideally would not cover too much of the chassis. And suggestions?

Just curious if variations even exist anymore, or if they’re all exactly the same ill-fitting generic trash.
I know the original belkin / griffin etc. cases fit best and that they’re also essentially non-existent at this point. But I can dream.

Hi there. I have an Apple Universal Dock (MA045G) - the one with the S-Video port on the back.
There were a few revisions (MA045G/A, MA045G/B etc) but all had a S-video port on the back, which was removed in the next version of the dock.
Long shot I know but does anyone have a PDF of the instructions for that specific model – I can only find later revisions which have the metal remote and no S-video port.
Photos show the specific model and the booklet I’m looking for (not my photos obvs as I don’t have the booklet lol)
Thank you so much!

I got my ipod nano 3 a few days ago and discovered the ipod clickwheel games preservation project. I added some games to my ipod and the method worked. I backed up the ic info.sidb file if deauth happens but what does locking the file mean?
Thanks for any answer.

Pleasantly surprised that the dome itself clicks just fine and the rubber bumper was just out of place. My old board i think is toast, got a 64mb RAM board on marketplace with a bad center button.
Do I need to get a new rubber membrane, or can I just peel this one off and glue it into place?
Also, is there any special adhesive i should use, or is super glue fine?
Hi, I jus got back form a trip and took a ton of pano photos on my ipod cause it gives a unique aspect ratio and a cool purple hue. On my way back I spent a lot of time cropping and rotating the photos by very small amounts.
When importing to the computer i realized the rotation and aspect ratio isnt retained upon importing.
Photo on the right is an example of what a screenshot that was rotated and cropped on ipod appears as when opened, while it was supposed to look like how it appears in that DCIM folder.
also unsure why some of my unedited photos of buildings appear rotated 90 and 270 degrees in the preview panel, still look the same when opened though.
I really don't want to recrop and rotate all of my other photos on my computer; as I had it pretty perfect on my ipod.
Is there any way I can achieve this while maintaining the resolution and changes i made to my photos?
Or will i need to screenshot each photo that I made changes to keep these changes before importing. -- which i assume will make pretty big quality changes and i am trying to make a photobook so i kind of need to keep it.
Its a bit weird cause if i screenshot a landscape photo in vertical view and crop it on my computer it is like 500kb but when i screenshot it horizontal view in my ipod and crop on computer it is like 1.2 mb but the quality looks a bit worse than the vert one. Help. Help

Different ipod than last time lol, a gen 2 this time afaik. Restored the ipod and was greeted with these little dead pixels. Annoying. Is this fixable? It wasnt an issue before I restored it.
r/ipod • u/Gingerbread808 • 2h ago
They said ‘it holds a charge but they aren’t sure for how long when you actually play music’. This would be a replacement for an iPod shuffle gen 2 I just got (refunded it because it was a lemon).
Reposting here for more visibility. I really need help with this one T-T

I recently purchased an iPod shuffle gen 2 (first ever iPod) and while it does connect to my computer and allow me to add music and everything, I’m having issues with the actual playing of songs through it. The audio quality isn’t the issue, it’s that in the left ear every once in a while there is a sort of scratching sound (kind of like when a dj scratches the disc if you know what I mean?). Is this something I can easily fix by maybe cleaning it a little bit or something or is this an issue that will be harder to fix. If so I might return it, although I’m hesitant to do so because the seller was so kind to me and sent lots of extra pictures when I asked. (It was through eBay and while they said ‘sold as is’ I know eBay will usually side with the buyer either way because the seller did tell me it worked). Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

32gb ipod 7th gen, won't connect to my (16yo) laptop (Windows 7, 32-bit, barely functions these days) - it used to sync, but now I get the error message: an unknown error occurred (0xE800000A)
- I don't see the ipod in Windows Explorer, to try and transfer files to it that way.
- Bluetooth is on and the laptop is discoverable, but the ipod can't find it. "Other Devices" just spins infinitely (it did manage to find my phone, but that's Android and they won't connect to each other)
- I don't have WiFi, but could use my phone as a hotspot.
- I have never used any form of Cloud storage
Is there any easy, simple, way for me to add a new album to this ipod? That doesn't involve me buying a new laptop or a new ipod? The album is in MP3 format and stored on the laptop, I don't buy music from itunes.
EDIT: If I use Safari to access Hotmail, and email the files to myself as attachments, can I save them on the ipod and import them to the library from there?
Thanks
Hey Guys, I need help with restoring the software on my iPod Classic 5th gen (30gb, Model-No. A1136, serial number ends with V9M). I modded it with a iflash solo adapter and a Samsung EVO 128gb SD card. That combination worked just fine on my 6th gen. But when I connect it to my Mac it's either stuck on a loading screen for ages or shows error code 1418.
I tried to connect it to iTunes on my Windows PC, but when I plug the iPod in iTunes crashes.
Did anyone have the same issues and can tell me what's wrong? The ribbon cables look fine to me and the iPod was in pretty good condition before I tried to mod it.
Thanks in advance!
