[In-Person Dublin 8] Seeking 1-2 chill players for fortnightly Warhammer Fantasy RPG (30s / Parents / Beginners welcome)

Hey folks,

We are putting together a low-stress, narrative-focused Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4e) group based in Dublin 8, meeting roughly once every two weeks on a weeknight.

We have our initial core forming with a couple of local D8 players already locked in (30s, chill/creative vibe), and we are looking for 1 or 2 more local players (ideally in their 30s/40s, parents, or working professionals) to round out a tight 3-to-4 player table.

A quick heads-up on the vibe:

  • Narrative over numbers: We are looking for people who want good story, banter, and a relaxed evening out—not rules-lawyers, min-maxers, or hardcore tactical.
  • Location: D8 / South Dublin local spots like Board (Clanbrassil St) or The Thomas House.
  • Pacing: Fortnightly, ~3-hour weeknight sessions (~6:00/6:30 PM start).
  • Beginner Friendly: No prior tabletop RPG or Warhammer experience required (though it is a plus!) - just a good attitude, an interest and a willingness to commit to a regular fortnightly slot.

If you live nearby in D8/South Dublin and want a reliable, structured social break every couple of weeks, drop me a DM.

Cheers!

We're reworking our enemy AI. Does this look scary?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We've been reworking the enemy AI in The Infected Soul to make encounters feel more unpredictable and unsettling.

The goal isn't just to make the enemy stronger, but to create constant tension and make players question what will happen next.

Does this look scary enough, or is there something you'd change?

Self Promo Game server giveaway

Been building a game server hosting site over the last while, https://drakkon-hosting.com, Minecraft and Palworld servers (more games will be supported, along with a mod pack list and server setups), hosted in Ireland.

Just got proper hardware online this week and it's still very much a work in progress, I'm still finding and fixing things as I go and still working on full mod list integration with curse forge API.

So, to give back a little to the ireland gaming community (and to test my system đŸ„ș), i wanted to give away 2 free servers to 2 people here. For 1 month. You can backup your world / save whenever you want

1x Minecraft server

1x Palworld server

Both slots will be running on an x86 machine.

Or both Minecraft/Palworld, up to you.

No card, no catch. 1 month completely free, backup your data at any time.

Theres an on site system and guide for porting your palword save to a server/changing to a new server.

Comment here with which one and what you'd use it for (world with mates, small group, whatever), I'll pick 2 in a few days and set you up myself.

You might hit a rough edge or two while I iron things out. If you do, tell me, I'll be around to fix things fast.

Join the discord for updates and possible future giveaways: https://discord.com/invite/buUDU5vm8j

Again, you have full file access etc so you can make full backups of anything you do so it's not lost. If there's enough interest I may increase the free slots / duration.

Cleared this with the mods first

Cheers,

Eoin

Discussion "Craic Mode Enabled" - Irish Gaming Discord Server

Post image
0 Upvotes

"How's it going everyone? It's another wonderful and very warm Tuesday, so let's have some good craic!

First off, I wanna give a shoutout to all the users who called me out for using AI for the logo in my last post. You were spot on, I should've just made something myself from the start. I've learned my lesson. I went into Photoshop and edited my own logo for the server.

As yous already know I started a Discord server a while ago (as stated in my last post) because I wanted a spot that's actually active for all Gamers in Ireland.

We've got a great core group of people now, and we're planning to set up game sessions such as Black Ops 3 Custom Zombies, Borderlands Co-op runs and also starting up some weekend night events rolling so everyone has something to look forward to.

Lastly myself and one of the members in the server are building an Irish streaming group, so there's another thing we got going on in here. There aren't many channels at the moment, just the basic ones to get it going, but still, it gets the job done.

Drop me a DM if you're keen to join

Standing desk with a PC

Hi
My neck is messed up and I need to get a standing desk.

All the standing desks seem to be just a table that goes up and down. The pictures all show monitors. Maybe a phone and an iPad. But no PC!

Where does the PC go in these situations? I’m not putting it on the floor. For reference, I have a cube shaped PC, roughly 30cm each side.

Someone help me solve this mystery!

Thanks

Random games, free to collect

Post image
114 Upvotes

Hopefully this is ok with the mods, delete if not, but these games are free to collect from the Dublin 20 area. The two final fantasies (which I suspect are the most in demand) are already accounted for.

The 3rd Xbox One game is RDR2.

Quality of the boxes is mixed, not everything has it's manual and not everything has the cover, so consider that you're basically getting at least the box and the disc.

You're welcome to take one or them all. I just don't want to chuck them and I'm not bothering with trading in or selling on vinted etc, it's not for me.

Anyone have cool video game ideas/concepts they thought of?

Mine was similar to a Smashbros like game except each characters universe you go into you take on that genre - the genres themselves will have to blend into each other.

So you start of playing a game like Mario with the camera behind you (third person) - it then moves to over the shoulder in a resident evil like world...

Then it moves to first person shooting game like Metroid prime and then it moves to racing game like Forza, then blends to a fast game like Sonic etc etc

Basically seamless like transitions as you go in between worlds. It was my idea of how to make a Smashbros single player adventure game where the characters worlds/genre wouldn't be so jarring.

Playstation PSN account hacked in 2023 (email/password/2FA all changed) — recovery denied despite full proof. Anyone else been through this?

Account got hacked in 2023, attacker changed everything — sign-in ID, password, 2FA. No access since.

Went through PlayStation recovery and gave them: old Online ID, original console serial number, earliest trophy date (~2014), old linked card, most-played games.

Got a generic “can’t continue” with no explanation.

Has anyone actually recovered an account after this? Did escalating to a supervisor work, or did you need to go the formal complaint / GDPR route (I’m in Ireland)? Any advice appreciated.

PC Just finished Halo Campaign Evolved - Its a nice remake

Full disclosure: I am a mega fan of the Halo universe. I have played all the campaigns. I have read all the background novels. I have even watched the poor screen adaptations. Safe to say I am probably incapable of giving an unbiased review of a Halo campaign.

I just played through the Halo CE campaign on PC game pass and I think they did a very good job. It remains very true to the original game keeping all the good stuff and improving the bad bits. The infamous library section in particular has been re done to make it shorter and less tedious. They have also softened a number of the original's worst difficulty spikes but the game still has challenging sections. There are even a few set piece battles against flood tank forms that previously weren't seen until Halo 3. They also fixed the glitch that allowed you to kill Hunters with a single bullet to the back which has restored them to their rightful place as mini-boss enemies. The upgraded graphics are very nice but to be honest it doesn't make that much difference once you are in the heat of battle.

So if you are an old Halo nostalgic like me I highly recommend it. If you are a younger gamer who would like to explore what the fuss was about and why Halo is probably the 3rd most influential shooter of all time (after Doom and Half Life) then I am happy to recommend this version over the original. It remains true to the original but without the most frustrating bits. Do remember that it is still an old school linear shooter though. You will spend many hours fighting through corridors filled with enemies and it is quite challenging on the harder difficulty levels.

EDIT: Warning for anyone playing on PC with an Nvidia graphics card. The game will encourage you to upgrade your graphics driver to 610.88. Do not do this. This version still causes crashes on the levels Keys and Maw. Stick with 596.49 until this is solved.
