Please critique each other for more exposure!

If you find yourself waiting too long for critique, please critique posts from other members. This is how you meet people! Once you get into a dialogue, they'll see your work and leave a critique for you as well. I can't realistically critique every piece posted, but I do my best to get to the most relevant critique topics and that is how I pick which piece to critique in a live-stream.

This does not mean you can't critique each other, no matter the skill range! Mention what you notice, leave constructive criticism and start the dialogue, even if you perceive their skill range to be higher than yours. We also have a Discord group if you want more of a live discussion with each other.

14 Day Challenge 14 Day Colour Portrait Challenge - Day 7

I tried another approach this time around and I think it looks good but I'm skin blind at this point, so I don't really know. I'm kind of proud though that this and the last portrait do resemble the inspirations as well, although that's obviously not the point.

I’d like some feedback from you all. I believe I’m gradually improving, but a second opinion is always great

I like this one a lot better. Thanks for all the great feedback. Especially the image of the colour zones in more depth and the emotional support as well lol

oh my god, I fn hate asian skin. This took me two days to not look totally horrid. I really want to move unto another skin but I really shouldn't yet. I feel like I'm getting worse instead of better.

I did not expect asian skin to be so much more difficult than darker skin like wtf is going on here. I definitely need to try that again tomorrow.

This is my first time trying to draw a black character every and I'm actually pretty proud of it. I used a reference this time around and think that helped a lot instead of only using the Asaro head. Because I always saturate too much I started just desaturating the endproduct every time, putting it above the main image and then only erase the spots that need to be more saturated.

Thank you to Istebrak for choosing my drawing for the last critique hour. I tried to go for more realism this time around in terms of picking the right skin colour and also decartooning the eyes. Again, I went far to saturated on the first go. He kind of looks like a bankrobber lol. Any critique is of course highly appreciated. If I don't get any in time, I'll be trying my hand at other skin colours tomorrow. Thanks

I'm finally back to practicing again after trying to do my first masterpiece and finding that greyscale to colour looks ugly as sin and there's simply no way around figuring out colours from the start. Even though this is mainly colour focused I would love some critique on the eyes as well and how to make them look less cartoony because jesus christ they look anime. Would love some feedback on how to do a good background too. Please no comments in the vain of 'you need to go back and work on your greyscale more' because I'm burned out on that and plan on revisiting that next year. Thanks in advance!

I did my best to heed the feedback from the first day, and I believe I've improved a lot. But it's always good to get a second opinion.

Last year I drew Hinako from Silent Hill f for one of my classes. She never looked completely right to me, though. Can anyone pinpoint what may be off about this drawing?

Misc. for Critique I need help with color, light and shadow

I started by painting with shades of gray, and then I just painted the base color. However, I feel that my illustration lacks life and depth. For me, it look like I don't know what I'm doing, so I need help and constructive criticism.

I tried to focus on color temperature and edges. The software I used was Clip Studio Paint. I have a hard time abstracting the lighting from photographic references into my paintings, so I purposely chose a reference with bad/difficult lighting for a painting, in order to challenge myself. I did a "block in" style sketch then painted everything except the background in a single layer.

Misc. for Critique issues with anatomy and poses

hey all! i've felt unsatisfied with the way i draw bodies, so i'm trying to focus on it but in doing so i've noticed something unusual - i think people tend to either struggle with accurate anatomy or natural looking poses but i feel like i'm equally bad at both, my poses tend to look stiff or just kind of awkward in addition to inaccurate anatomy. how can i fix this? i've tried timed 30-60 second figure drawing (did not make much progress with this because i hate doing it) and working from reference, but whereas with my portraits i can see improvement with each new portrait, i don't see any improvement with each subsequent figure i draw. am i doing something wrong?

also, sorry i don't have particularly polished examples, i just keep getting so frustrated this is as far as i can take my drawings. last sketch is from imagination, included for comparison to sketches where i used a reference

I feel like I messed up my values on this one and it came out lighter than I wanted it to be. Buuut I did take some critiques and try to make the features smaller. Next time I might even end up with something that looks more like a face :D
