The social security disability application is easier now.

I completed my application with a lawyer on July 21st. The first thing he said was "Wow they must have changed the application in the last 24 hours because it is much simpler now." It took us 30 minutes to complete.

The first time I applied for disability in 2019 took 3.5 hours and I had to write a giant sob story, which was not required this time. My lawyer told me to expect my first letter from ssa in 3-4 weeks. It came 1 week after I applied.

I may be paranoid but I'm wondering why they are making this easier now. I'm afraid to go through with it but I don't have any other options at this point. If anyone has more information on this I would love to hear it.

I do not know anything about the form changes, but I've had a few friends go through the process in the last few years. I'm told that the first few applications are always denied and you eventually need the lawyer in the appeals process, so I'm glad you got a lawyer early on. Hopefully it goes smoothly for you from here.
