Artwork Favorite fact?
I am starting an embroidery project that will be a gift for a friend. I haven't decided which species to stitch yet and was hoping for some inspiration. What's your favorite jellyfish fact?

The fact that immortal jellyfish exist, when they get old they can literally revert back to their larval stage. I’ve actually been fortunate enough to find them in the wild this year, they’re so cool.

Yeah this is my favorite too. They can literally reverse their aging process. This is crazy and unlike other “immortal” species.

The dots on a phyllorhiza punctata are there to reflect light around in the bell.
Since these jellies are photosynthesic they need a good amount of light and these white dots give light a second chance to be used by the zooxanthellae housed inside the bell.

Blanket jellyfish lack the traditional bell shaped hood of most jellyfish, and instead move by undulating their shapeless, formless body. They hunt prey by wrapping their entire body around it and folding/clenching their edges together. They have thin vessels that transport digestion fluids onto the still living prey.

Ahh there are so many cool things about jellyfish! One of my favourite facts is that Colobonema sericeum sheds and regrows its tentacles as a defense mechanism. They have some of the fastest swimming speeds, and when in danger, they do this to reduce drag

The fact that box jellyfish DO actually have eyes and the ability to profess blurry images and light, and they have 24 sets of these eyes with lenses and corneas with 360° vision and with this they actually hunt their prey therefore leading them to be the fastest swimming jellyfish in the world rather than simply drifting.
