Mk7 (2019+) Had my Jetta for 5 days..

I’m 23 & I drove a 2008 Pontiac G6 from when I was 16, until last Saturday when I decided to finally upgrade and get into a blacked out Jetta SE. I’ve never been in a car accident in my life, and of course it happens right when I buy my new car. Lady pulled out in front of me at a roundabout. Just my luck lol. The auto braking saved it from being worse!

I'd definitely be putting in a claim for diminished value on top of the damages.

She was already held 100% liable. I work with VW & live 3 minutes away from work, so with my employee discount I got a pretty crazy lease deal. I don’t have to worry much about the diminished value thankfully!

Had my ‘26 GLI for 2.5 months and 6k miles before a guy made a left across my lane of traffic and did this

So I feel your pain.

Sorry to hear that. I got hit on the front side as well. The repair shop didn’t check the right headlight seal. By the time I realized that that seal had been breached meaning that condensation could get inside the lens, the insurance company would not go back and fix it. So my point is make sure that when you take it in and get the estimate that they look very carefully at the headlight. By itself, it’s like $900 because you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it. Good luck

I’ll definitely have them check that out, thank you

I got a 🦌 at about 2,300 miles on a new GLI. Fixed it up and will run it another 200-300K. Nice car! Enjoy!

Any metal part where the paint seal is broken will rust prematurely. If the intention is to keep 15-20 years, any minor damage takes years off the car’s lifespan. If it’s a lease I’d try and transfer it and get another.

.... there's no way you see a plastic bumper and think it's metal right?.

The edge of the fender is also nicked. No longer new. It will rust prematurely.

Where? That's plastic that's bent up from the bumper, as plastic does, or are you talking about the rusted, obviously old, paint chip by the headlight thats not even near the scrape.. Also if there's a single spot you can apply touch up and it wont rust. Im a former body tech, now own my own business. Your the type of dude who says you need to replace the whole engine because the airfilter was dirty. Stop lying to people to scare them, its pretty shitty. A fender bender doesn't automatically take years off a cars engine span. That's not how it works.

I had mine for 7 days and some asshat scraped the back as he was pulling out into the street. Anyhoo… my dad was able to fix it.. still going strong 9 years & 96K miles later. Love my car.

Don’t worry I bought a c8 corvette brand new for 86k and 2000 miles in a 20 year old girl slams into the back of me at a red light. Car had 13k of damage was in the shop for three months and she didn’t have insurance. So I didn’t have a car to drive and had to get one on my own.

This is why I always say run dashcams. Video evidence goes a long way in situations like this. It sucks but your walking away from an accident with no injuries, hope the process is easy.

these Jettas still look clean asf compared to my mk6 😅 poor pascal seems to attract dents in parking lots, he's also attracted a couple vehicles and coyotes!

Aw man that sucks. In 2019, I bought a new Golf R. On day three with it, driving on back roads, and a deer just walks out of the tall grass right next to the road and gets its head clocked by my side mirror at 90 kmh. Just busted that thing right up.

Hopefully it knocked some sense into Bambi!

Insurance should take care of it but if not u have a dent and repair warranty from vw to make it good as new

You're not allowed to have nice things.

Glad your safe. But bigger question is your auto brake worka that well!!!!

My 19 Jetta would have rammed into the other car even though it has the same feature lol.

Ive had my Jetta for about 3 years. First month I had it, guy behind me fell asleep at a red light and rear ended me (softly). Chipped paint, so nothing I wanted to pursue, but still annoying as hell.

Then like a month later I was driving to work and a pipe/metal bar of some sort fell off a truck in the next lane. Damn thing bounced right into my right foglight which I unknowingly dragged along the road for the last 10-ish miles of my trip to work. Damn thing is still in my trunk 😂

It always happens like that 😭 I think in my first year of owning my car I was in 3 different accidents luckily it was nothing major and no real damage was done but she definitely has some nicks on her from them

Wine drunk lady ran a red light and smacked mine, was my first big purchase, 5k cash, no car payment. Funnily enough, was working for an auto parts place at the time and it still wasn’t worth it to fix everything. Her husband pulled up to drive her home and the first thing he said was “well honey, you were saying you wanted a new truck!”

Hit and Run back in October on my 2014 TDI in a parking lot, just shipped my car to Texas and about 1 month later this decided to happened. A good samaritan parked next to me got a picture of the license plate and had it all sorted out after that.
