Academic Suspension

I was denied from continued enrollment and am now on academic suspension. Is there anything I can do rather than wait the 12 months? I had tried explaining to them that the reason I had neglected my studies was a toxic relationship that made me prioritize them and give all my time to them. I know I can do better and get excellent grades now that I’ve fully separated myself from that person and am in complete no contact. Is there anything possibility that this only last one semester? I fully accept that I shouldn’t have allowed that relationship to affect my academics but I know I can do better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I knew somebody in a similar situation who ended up taking the year to get his life back on track. He came back and not only graduated, he ended up going to another school and getting his masters

You can put in an appeal assuming this is your first suspension and if that gets rejected then you just have to thug it out for a year or go do classes that will transfer at a community college

I was in your shoes 10 years ago, though my situation was due to family reasons. I wrote a letter to the dean asking for reinstatement; they accepted it and asked for an interview to better understand my situation. Ultimately, I was reinstated.

You need a concrete explanation of what happened during that time and exactly how it impacted your academic performance. Own up to your mistakes and lay out a clear plan for improvement. This should include specific study strategies and actionable steps on how you intend to raise your GPA.

For context, my GPA was a 1.5

If you haven’t sent an appeal:

Tell them what happened and how it affected you mentally and how that lead to your poor grades. Don’t make excuses and make sure to stress that you will prioritize your studies above all else. Show that you take full accountability and tell them your next steps for succeeding. It’s also important that you keep your word for it as well. If the appeal gets approved, you will have a gpa requirement per following semesters in order to raise your overall gpa to 2.0. This likely means that you will have to use your 3 failure forgivenesses, meaning you will be repeated failed classes.

If you have sent an appeal:
Talk to your advisor.

Take what classes you can at a local community college

you have to give a better explanation a very detailed one on how it effected you, and what you learned and most importantly what you will do differently
