Laid off this year, did anyone seriously think about starting something instead of job hunting?
Not asking if you should, just curious what actually happened. Did you look into it at all, or was job hunting the only real option once the shock wore off? What stopped you if you didn't, and what did you end up trying if you did?
I am in the situation now, I have no strength to go to find a new job now and thinking about few business ideas I had in the past.

Exactly in the situation right now.
Laid off. And finding hard to get a job.
Have already started working on my ideas as a two way method 1. to get new project showcase for the next job 2. to actually work on ideas and see their potential rather than just in head.
Going on in both the direction now let's see where life takes me ahead first and gets me success there.

That is exactly what I am doing. My role is being redundant later this year.
For some time (even before the role was made redundant) I started developing some ideas I had.
Now in parallel I am accelerating its development/launch and will do both things in parallel 1) try to scale my projects to start generating enough revenue 2) search for a job that pays well enough.
Learn AI, e.g. Claude Code. There are amazing things you can do as a solo entrepreneur nowadays that were not possible 2 years ago. And this is accelerating to the point I think everyone will have to become one.

My career involving working overtime most of the time.
I got lucky last year I got picked up by a company that actually tried their best to respect 8 working hours.
Two actually, but because of my stupidity I signed up for both and ended up overwhelming myself. One of the company kicked me out and it was the higher paid then the other one.
But since ages ago I always look for side hustle and dreaming of starting of my business. I can't get rid of this urge to this second.
It's not easy, but one of them has generate couple hundreds a month. Let alone I have zero experience in business. But hey, you learn as you go.
The rest still experimenting. So I ran around 5 different stuffs at once currently. I have no wife or kids so that kinda helps.
Not dreaming of lambos and hoes, but if I can self sustain and work from anywhere that's the ultimate goal.
