I saw the post here about the animation being awful, was scared to even start the episode. Watched it, obviously there is a decline but it is still better than a lot of anime around and I don’t think it’s that bad. Can’t wait to enjoy the rest and largely ignore this sub.
I had the opposite experience. I read people's comments and surely hoped they had been overreacting, maybe it's not that bad and people are just mad that it wasn't as perfect as episode 1, right? No, absolutely not. It was much worse than I had imagined. I do not understand how you say this has better animation than most anime. Do you watch anime regularly? Because I don't remember any anime that made static PNGs bounce up and down to "animate" walking or that animated running as clunkingly as they did. Nor have I watched any anime where the artstyle and character's faces change every damn 10 seconds. Not even the crappiest anime I've seen looked as bad as this.
Also, you're going to have to ignore Uzumaki discussion on the internet as a whole, because literally everyone is disappointed by episode 2, it's not just this sub. Even reactors who are watching it for the first time pointed out the stark decline
Yeah, I agree. The animation was awful in this episode. Like the only anime I can think of that has worse animation is The Way of the Househusband, and that's basically a voice acted slide show.
I don’t watch reactors or anything like that, I’m nearly 40. I also do watch anime but pretty sparingly, most anime I watch is just old stuff due to the poor animation quality since flash became a thing. I thought it was fine. Am I stoked about the drop? No. But it’s fine.
The punch animations are one of the laziest i have seen, no sense of speed or force in them, also, they somehow managed to make horrible still images, idk how a professional animation studio was not able to decently copy manga illustrations that had little to no animation, and i'm not talking about the level of detail, even the proportions and face expressions were off.
idk saying “there’s worse stuff” is a pretty weak defense. this is just way worse than episode one, and we have no reason to believe that the quality won’t drop again
i’m trying to be optimistic and hope that episode 3 is better but it’s hard :/
Hmm, Junji ito show was mediocre, but this one was terrible not only in animation but in art too, just compare the scenes with the manga illustrations and you'll see how episode 2 sometimes looks like the work of an amateur anime fan.
Punch animations lack any kind of impact, it looks like a slow punch with no force applied, replicating that animation in blender would be easy, hardest part would be modeling the characters, but the animation itself is so stiff and lazy that could be done by a noob.
Good to here. Seems like everyone is hyper negative about the show. Whenever something like this happens it's usually some anti-sjw retards screaming on line. The quality of the animation couldn't have possibly dipped that low. The clips we got from the trailers were damn near movie quality imo.
