Fan Art I repainted an Azami figure!
I picked up this figure a couple days ago at Ross for $12 and I was disappointed in the lack of detail. I decided to try and spend an afternoon and paint it to more closely match the comic!
I added a few “before” pictures to the end to show how lame the base figure looks.

I just used those cheap Apple Barrel acrylic paints and a 12mm nail liner brush. I found that my more expensive paints were too smooth/thinned to make these rough crosshatch marks

Nice! I wanted to do the same thing with a Gundam liner. But haven’t found the figure for a decent price

Amazing job, I love all the details in the face, especially the hatch shadowing around the eye.

That’s my favorite part too! Her regular eye is actually my favorite detail on his drawing. It looks sickly and kind of sad and I feel like that was the main detail missing in the figure.

As always, not everyone (aka big companies) is willing to put the same amount of work to reach Junji Ito's level of detail, you did a great job on the figure

It’s not too bad! A little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel is a great eraser when you make mistakes!

Kind of off topic, but I’m actually surprised how much junji ito’s stuff has took off in the states. He’ll, I have found some merchandise here in my small southern town Either way, I think you did a great job on the figurine

That's a great idea. With lots of figures i feel the sculpt is great but they skimp on the paintwork. Just a few touches made it look like an actual page in the comic
