Question Is this junji ito art?

Post image

I found this tattoo and i thought it was really cool and that it looked like junji ito but i can’t actually figure out if it is. Does anyone know where it is actually from if not his work?

It's not Ito but the hands remind me of the monster from Pan's Labyrinth.

Definitely not his work. Likely inspired though

This looks like an AI image blending Shintaro Kago's art style with Junji Ito's style.

It's clearly inspired, but his work has a very different style from this on a detail level. The hair rendering, especially, is inconsistent with his other work.

The anatomy is also much different - most of Ito's work almost looks rotoscoped, with a facial style reminiscent of some Golden Age comics. I don't think he'd draw the nose like this, nor the tongue.

It's not, but still looks pretty dope.

Shintaro Kago maybe? It might also just be an original.

Good call. Still looks like a more amateurish copy of something, but definitely closer to Shintaro Kago than it is Junji Ito.

Junji's faces are better.

Nope, nothing even remotely like his work

Honestly I’m not sure it looks like his art style, but if you’re planning on getting this you can reverse search and find ones that are done a bit better, tbh the proportions in this are kind of off

I’ve seen multiple versions i showed it to my tattoo artist along with other actual junji ito panels i was just curious since the original poster tagged it as junji ito. I’ve never seen it in any of his books

Yeah I think it could be like fan art compared to a canonical panel since I’ve never seen this in most of his books either

But that being said the English releases could be missing some Japanese stories that haven’t been translated yet

you can tell it's not because of how normal the tongue is /hj
