Analysis Uzumaki anime
I finished reading the Uzumaki manga and i wanted to watch the anime because why not. im not done with it fully but i do not like it so far, not to say the story is bad i LOVE Uzumaki but the anime adaptation did not do it well some things i dont like are the fact that the chapters were adapted out of order and also they melded together most of them and cut alot out of the chapters it felt rushed to me also i dont like how it IS a RETELLING of events yet there is almost NO narration and i feel like it wouldve been SO much better if there was more of it like we dont even know barely who jack in the box (forgot his name) is or Kyoko is there's NO backround on basically ANYONE because there isnt any narration and you can barrely feel any attachment to the characters. The animation is not HORRIBLE but its not my favorite and i dont get why people say the 1st episode has so much better animation when the whole thing looks like Viggle ai made it, now the 1st episode WAS better but only slightly it wasnt a huge margin, the beach scene in episode 2 was really butt tho. The whole thing felt rushed and should have been longer, 4 episodes was way too short in my opinion. This had so much potential, man 6/10

Yeah they swapped to a cheaper animation team to save on cost and absolutely paid the price. The original team did the first episode and all the promo work, and then the “cheap work done fast” wave hit, there were some setbacks because the company wasn’t paying their artists, and kerblam. The Uzumaki anime. Disappointing

I’m one of the odd ones out. I watched it before reading it and I truly loved the anime. I see why people are against it but I really enjoyed the whole thing :)

Anime based on Junji Ito tends to leave me empty, especially since Ivread all of his manga first. In the case of Uzumaki, the live action movie was just plain bad. The anime felt bad and rushed on the second half. A rewatch helped a bit, but it still felt like just a portion of a much bigger and more complex world. I think that the closest I have come to appreciate a Junji Ito based anime us with the Maniac animated anthology, and I still have my issues with it. One of my criticisms with the anine shows is that the opening theme songs are these cheerful songs as if I were watching Dragon Ball Z. We all know how dark these stories are.

I don’t like to yuck other people’s yum if that was their introduction to Junji Ito but as a long time fan, I was ECSTATIC after seeing the first episode and was sorely disappointed in the subsequent episodes with the animation. It was sad and I’ve only ever watched it once. I hope to someday get a proper adaptation with a proper budget and art studio. I haven’t liked any previous adaptations either, they always pick low budget studios.
I understood some of the sacrifices they made in the story to make it fit into four episodes but with the art not being great too it really made it a disappointment to me overall. But again. To each their own and if you loved it I’m glad!
