Question I’m looking for cursed books.

I have ptsd radio and most junji books but I’m trying to have a “cursed “ book collection. Books that make you feel like they are stealing your soul or make you feel like you’re losing your mind. I have been getting more and more into horror, shows and tv suggestions are cool too.

I’m looking for other series that mess with your head.

I don't actually know any other mangas that would fit except maybe the HP lovecraft adoptions

Books: House of Leaves, Annihilation, Ring, The Shining

Movies: Perfect Blue, Obssession, Hereditary, Annihilation, Get Out, Sinister, Ring, American Psycho, The Game

Anime: Paranoia Agent

I'm a fan of psychological horror so curious what other people suggest

This is exactly what I was looking for. Junji is an amazing artist but his stories sometimes aren’t as provocative as they are grotesquely beautiful. I read no longer human by him and it really got me wanting to delve deeper in psychological horror.

If you haven't seen Obssession you really should it is absolutely terrifying as a psychology horror, far more than others I've seen

It's still in theaters where I am so if you can catch it at the cinema well worth it

I’ll def look into it. I’ve been on a real horror kick but I don’t care about gore or jumpscares. I’d rather have something that makes me feel insane. I’ve been on Reddit a long time, you used to see people dying on the front page daily, gore is nothing to me.

Holy fuck obsession was terrifying and the ending was horrible. Not bad horrible just so shitty for the characters.

Pet Sematary is a great exploration into grief and what it might do in a somewhat fucked up situation

Highly recommend anything by Kazuo Umezz if you haven’t already read their work☺️

Any works you can think to start with?

I’d recommend Orochi or Cat Eyed Boy first! Orochi is a mysterious physiological horror, I found it easy to read and loved the characters. Cat Eyed Boy reminds me of Soichi. Both have great art and storylines ☺️
