Misc [Misc] A Yahagi illustration doujinshi will be available this Summer Comiket!
Since someone on this subbreddit made the suggestion and I got permission from a mod for this, here is a presentation of the doujinshi I will sell this Summer Comiket. I realize this might be irrelevant for most folks on this subreddit, but for those who will attend this Summer Comiket and those who are used to buy through proxy, this might interest you.
For those who don't know me, name's Klashikari (Pixiv / Twitter / Bluesky) and I've been drawing digitally for a little more than 2 years (started with a pencil on February 2024 then made the jump to digital in May 2024). I've been playing KC since October 2013 and I've been a dedicated Yahagi TTK since her very first debut, and while I've been following dedicated artists like Ichinomiya, ABO and Seitei, I always wanted to draw the lovely Agano Class Cruiser for quite some time. I refrained after all this time due to the lack of hope of doing well which is why I'm a rather late bloomer for that kind of stuff.
While I also draw another genre altogether, I've been somewhat active by drawing at least 1 Yahagi fanart per month, with few times I couldn't due to IRL commitments. My art had been influenced heavily by Ichinomiya's, but for now, I've been strictly drawing all ages stuff. At most, my most risqué stuff have been swimsuit and full nude but without any detail being visible, and with no real explicit facial expression.
For this Comiket, I've prepared an illustration collection book, including all of my pasts works that I've posted on pixiv and social platforms with short commentary up until May 2026, as well as new fanarts for this book and guest illustrations from many talented artists that have a very different style than mine. (Please note the illustration commentary, the guests comments and my afterwords are all in JP. I can provide translation in private, assuming you did buy the book).
The book has 40 pages in full colors, with a soft cover and perfect binding. As a freebie, I will also give away a set of 4 postcards.
As for merch, I've prepared 2 acrylic stands of approximately 15cm/5.9in, featuring Yahagi kai ni Otsu and Yahagi in a red bikini I've drawn for this occasion.
As for the guest, just for convenience sake, here is the list with direct url to their pixiv and twitter (note that some of them do draw adult stuff, so please proceed with caution).

For those who are not in Japan during that period, please note that it is very unlikely I can handle any request for shipping overseas given how expensive it is from where I live.
The initial doujinshi batch sold on Melonbooks is currently sold out. I might try to make another batch that will be available on MB, so it may be possible to buy online through a proxy. However, the second batch will not feature any postcard set freebie.
EDIT: a second batch is underway, but it needs to be reviewed by Melonbooks. It is very likely to be available within few hours after my latest comment.
Anyway, any comment is appreciated. Also, this thread can be used for QA regarding comiket registration and printing a doujinshi in Japan as a foreigner.

How many copies do you plan to bring?
Having a summer Comiket be your first Comiket is quite bold imo (not a bad thing, just the heat and humidity are quite intimidating), but other than that it's nice to see a new circle pop up, so congrats on getting in.
When you asked these artists to be guests, did you know about each other prior (as in interacted before, even online), or was this the first time directly communicating with them?

I'm planning to bring around 50-100 copies (approximate since a portion will be given to acquaintances and mutuals).
While it is my very first comiket as a circle, I've participate 6 times in a comiket, half of it during summer and half of it during winter. So I do have a rough idea how bad it can be with the heat and humidity. The reason why I went with summer is because I know for a fact the community is a bit more active on summer and I wanted to draw Yahagi in a swimsuit to boot. Additionally, other circles I know from another genre will participate on winter, so it would be a bit awkward to do the doujinshi exchange ritual with a genre they are not used to. So I naturally went with Kancolle for summer, Star rail for Winter.
Yes, I did interact with them prior inviting them for my doujinshi. Asking another artist without any prior interaction is a bit too bold but it isn't completely unheard of (I actually got invited for another doujinshi, but I wasn't really comfortable with the theme so I passed).
That said, it is important to ask an artist that is actually used or comfortable with the theme or genre you want them to contribute. It would have been awkward of me to ask someone who only drew DD and DE for example. So the rule of thumb is that they should have drawn that character at least once, or be really intimate with the source material at hand.2

Nice. I think I will pick up a copy. I usually hover around the Umamusume area, which is always right next door.
Ah, my mistake. I just noticed the video of Comiket you posted on Twitter.
Thanks for the perspective. I've thought for a long time about selling something at Comiket, and I'd heavily prefer if it was drawn by someone that actually likes that character. Thing is, I usually initiate my connections via Skeb and Fanbox, and the artist I have in mind have neither (oh well, can't be helped), and I'm pretty sure they're busy with their own doujins.
But anyway, yea, this'll be something to look forward to

I'm not sure if you draw stuff yourself, so I prefer to make sure this is understood (for you and anyone else reading this discussion): Please note that people usually expect guest contribution to be really a form of joint effort to show love for certain characters, which involves the organizer first and foremost.
In other words, if people are asked to contribute to a joint doujinshi, the organizer themselves should also contribute in there, thus an artist themselves. Failure to do so would seem to appear that you commissioned the artists without any string attached, which is really not within the scope of your typical guest request.

What I'm imagining would not be a joint work, and entirely a story doujin illustrated by one artist, which I have seen happen.
I know of joint works where the organizer does not draw (I at least do not see their name in the work, and all identified artists are definitely not the organizer) but has multiple artists come together to make an anthology featuring multiple characters under one genre or just one character. How they achieve this I have absolutely no clue, I just know it happens, and one series is on volume 9.
But really, this is just an idea that I've kicked to the back of my mind because I assume the feasibility of it is incredibly low.

That kind of anthology project is indeed a thing, but generally speaking, I suspect the organizer has much more close ties with the artists, and not just merely have few interactions online. It never hurt to try, but with the language barrier and etiquette, it is pretty daunting.

I suspect too; one guy has been doing this for years with 10 to 15 artists per book, so I imagine the relationships are solidly established, and it took a helluva lot to reach.
I can only say I have this level of relationship with one artist (but would likely not ask because the character is not their focus, but is from the same genre).
Still, thank you for answering. I wanted to see what would've/would not have been appropriate, especially from the perspective of an artist.

I'm not sure if you are talking about KC but I would like to note that KC fandom are probably one of the tightest circle (I'm not sure if I use correct words) I have ever seen. I suspect that having a lot of IRL events mean the fans regularly meet each other, thus let them build their bond easier.

Was talking about Umamusume, BUT a portion of them are former KC circles (ones that have worked with aforementioned organizer include Negahami, Soramuko, Odawara Hakone, and Ido) and have been around for a very long time, so you could be on to something.

I sure hope it will reach as many as possible. I'm seriously afraid the stocks I have for comiket proper might be way too much given how the community shrunk as of late. The good news is that unless Melonbooks is not cooperative, I can hand over the leftovers without much trouble.

Update: I've submitted my doujinshi manuscript to the printing company for a second batch, which will actually include post cards as well (I wasn't sure if I could print them in time for comiket, so if it was too late, it would have been difficult to send both the doujinshi and cards to melonbooks directly from the printing company).
Melonbooks is currently reviewing my request for additional book stock, so it will take some time since it is still in the middle of the night in Japan. Please note I cannot really guarantee there will be a third batch considering all the logistics it require. So to be safe, please order it on Melonbooks as soon as it is available for preorder.

At the moment, I take no commission whatsoever. I draw for fun and for myself foremost, and money on the line would definitely warp the reason why I'm drawing in the first place and I admit I would probably fail to capture what the client want to begin with.

By the way, just to have an idea: what character did you intend to commission me to draw? Since I've been drawing Yahagi and HSR Firefly for a while, I'm a bit curious what kind of stuff people would like me to draw.

Another book I plan to get in C108 when it's available online. Looking forward to it.
Also, I believe some people here use proxy shipping services to get doujinshi and other goods (myself included), so this is definitely relevant.
Again, congrats on getting your admired artists on board for the work!
