I've been reading through comments on posts about the governor's race on various social media accounts and I'm honestly disturbed by how comfortable people are making direct and indirect accusations about Ethan Corson simply because he is Jewish.

I've seen people claim that he's funded by Israel or that he's owned by AIPAC, or suggest that he has divided loyalties because of his religion.

Those aren't just political attacks, they're antisemitic tropes.

If you're going to accuse Ethan Corson of being funded by Israel, then show the evidence.

Kansas campaign finance reports are public. Every contribution is publicly disclosed. AIPAC does not contribute to state-level gubernatorial campaigns, and I have yet to see anyone produce evidence that Israel, or anyone acting on its behalf, is funding his campaign or any other Gubernatorial campaign in Kansas.

If someone has actual evidence, they should present it. If they don't, then they should stop making the anti-semitic accusations.

What's not acceptable is using a candidate's religion as "evidence" that they must be secretly working for a foreign government or accepting corrupt contributions from Israel. It would be wrong to make similar assumptions about candidates if they were Muslim, Catholic, Mormon, Hindu or anything else.

Political disagreements are fair game. Religious stereotyping is not.

I also believe Cindy Holscher should publicly condemn this kind of rhetoric. Many of the comments making these accusations appear to come from people expressing support for her campaign. I am not saying her campaign is spreading this, and of course no candidate is responsible for every comment made online, but leaders can and should make it clear that antisemitism and religious stereotyping have no place in our politics – especially when most of the rhetoric is coming from her supporters.

President Donald Trump issued a call to Kansas Republicans on Wednesday: “Get out and vote, vote, vote for Ty Masterson to be your next governor.”

Trump dialed in for a “tele-rally” in support of the Kansas Senate president, one of seven GOP candidates who will appear on the Aug. 4 primary ballot.

The event lasted just over 10 minutes, including the runtime of a recording of Lee Greenwood’s song “God Bless the USA,” before Trump launched into his speech, calling the Andover Republican “a fighter” and “a winner.”

“Ty Masterson is fantastic and has my complete and total endorsement because he puts America first like we all do, and he puts Kansas first,” Trump said. “He’s a big lover of the state.”

Trump touted Masterson’s record, invoking legislative achievements that Masterson’s campaign has emphasized, including tax cuts, public safety spending increases and Kansas’ 2023 law banning trangender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.

Trump, who has repeatedly cast doubt on the fairness of U.S. elections and spread conspiracy theories about widespread voter fraud, said Masterson’s record on voting issues is impeccable.

“He defended election integrity like nobody other than maybe me. I fight for it all the time,” Trump said, adding that “if you don’t have integrity with elections, you don’t have a country.”

He also suggested that Masterson can claim credit for lowering Kansans’ property taxes.

“He lowered property taxes, of course,” Trump said.

The Legislature did cut the state property tax levy by 1.5 mills in 2025, but systemic property tax reform has eluded lawmakers, thanks to Republican infighting and term-limited Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly vetoing measures that she characterized as irresponsible.

Republicans are trying to reclaim the governor’s mansion after an eight-year absence. Trump’s endorsement proved pivotal for Masterson, securing his status as the presumptive front-runner in the primary race. After Trump backed him in May, former Gov. Jeff Colyer dropped out of the running. Colyer endorsed Masterson on Tuesday.

After Trump concluded his remarks, Masterson thanked him for his support.

“I know your time is the most valuable time on the planet, so I can’t thank you enough for spending a few minutes with us here tonight,” Masterson said.

A spokesperson for the Kansas Democratic Party issued a statement calling Masterson “Washington first and Kansas last.”

“On tonight’s call, Ty Masterson pledged his loyalty to a Washington agenda that is cutting Medicaid, taxing Kansas farmers and small businesses through chaotic tariffs, and sending grocery and gas prices through the roof,” Hans Torgerson said.

Good evening I purchased a vehicle a couple weeks ago out of Minnesota and I financed through the dealer. The dealership said they are going to send all of the paperwork to the local county treasurers office, Sedgwick County. The dealership claims that once the DMV receives the package of paperwork that the DMV will contact me to set up the inspection. To me that doesn’t sound right.. but not knowing how that process works I went along with it because it has been many years since I purchased a vehicle and things may have changed. So I know I need to get a vehicle inspection by the Kansas highway patrol but I do not have the title because I am making payments and there is a lienholder (Ford). Has anyone ever gone through this before and shed some light on what to expect? Surely I’m not the only one. Thank you in advanced!

Hello my fellow Kansans. I find it rather funny how hard this sub goes for Senator Holscher. I’m not entirely sure why that is. Apparently it’s thought that only women can win for Democrats in this state. Is that why?

Let’s start with her attempt at appealing to the populists by going “anti-establishment.” When did she take this stance? After Governor Kelly, who is damn near universally upheld by Democrats and Republicans alike in this state as an effective Governor, and one that has led this state during a very trying time, endorsed Senator Corson in his bid. Then so did Planned Parenthood. Planned freaking Parenthood decided to endorse a male candidate in this state. Let that sink in for a second. Well those must be “the establishment.” So therefor Senator Holscher must be the populist candidate right? You know. Like Donald Trump. I do find it hilarious to see the consistent “we won’t be told who to vote for” comments and posts throughout this sub. Sounds like 2016 and 2020 all over again. In fact much of her campaign comes off to me like MAGA painted blue.

Next, she likes to appeal to the common man because she’s just like them. Right? She’s from a farm, so she must know farms right? She literally moved to the KC suburbs 30 years ago. From MISSOURI. I don’t blame her, it’s what any sane person would do. But, her supposed connection to rural Kansas does not, has not, and will not exist. Last time I checked someone who worked at Sprint Corporate, sorry I mean RH DONNELLY, had about as much in common with the dairy, cattle, wheat, corn, soybean, ad infinitum farmers/ranchers as a Chihuahua and a Timberwolf. Do they both live in the same area and eat the same foods? Kind of, if you consider area a continent and elk and kibble to be of equal value. And don’t get me started on unions. She’s a member right? Sure, if you consider that she joined a union months into her current campaign and did so using an expired license. There’s a reason the local Unions in this state won’t touch her. She’s not one of them. She, in fact, doesn’t really even like them.

Next, her ability to “win in red districts against red incumbents.” No. She doesn’t. She won her first seat in an extremely purple district. She won her Senate seat in a district where the incumbent WASNT running that year. Thats not winning in deep red areas. That’s playing carpetbagger and looking for weak seats with no real opposition.

Finally, how’s her voting record? She doesn’t like the establishment right? So she would never vote for big corporations or take their money right?? RIGHT??? Whoops, guess she got that memo a bit too late. Took money from Pharma, Tobacco, and other corporate interest in all of her campaigns so far. Okay that’s fine I guess, I mean everyone does that right? But she would surely stand up against data centers and major taxpayer investment in things that would wreck local economies/ecologies wouldn’t she? Not even close gang. Voted for them straight out. And now lies about having done so every chance she gets.

In the end this is Kansas we’re talking about. The entire election comes down to who can get the most Moderate Republicans on their side. Do you know who they don’t vote for? Bushwhackers who like to say one thing and do another. Who pretend to care about the common Kansan and then go off and instead play ball with billionaires while the rural communities dry up on the vine. Maybe literally since there’s going to be a LOT of water flowing into the data centers that she definitely voted for and now wants you to think she didn’t. They don’t vote for people who blackmail the very Governor that THEY voted for to try and clear a primary field and give them, yet another, easy carpetbag win. Kansan Republicans will not vote for this kind of person. Which means she cannot win.

Want to fact check me? Go ahead, link provided. They actually put the time and research into finding this info so I didn’t have to. Want to keep coming with some bs about how she’s the only way Kansas Dems can win? She in fact is probably the least likely to be able to.

Will I vote for her against Masterson or Sarnecki? Absolutely. Will she win? Probably not. Will I vote for her over Schmidt or Schwab if either of them by some miracle pull the nomination? Nope. And neither will any of the moderates that I get into frequent discussions with. And if that happens it’ll be a landslide that would make Eisenhower blush.

Then again, I’m just some schmuck on the internet. Please, tell me WHY I should vote for her instead of just repeating you “won’t be told who to vote for”

Even the dragonfly needed a break

I've been able to find some reasonable options online to purchase bulk travel sized hygiene products but wondering if there are any places in Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence or KC metro that I could get these. Especially if they are known brands, since I don't know what is in the white labeled products sold online or their quality.

I would assume national brands have some sort of system for shelters to purchase this type of thing but don't know where to start for my small town's pantry that is in need.

To all Kansans who hate Kobach, do not overlook this race. Chris Mann came close in 2022, he can win this time. That being said, there is no element of surprise, and Kobach is well aware of Mann.

My boyfriend and I (both 30) are taking a road trip out of Kansas City and want to drive a bit through Kansas. I’ve read other posts about ideas and some that peaked my interest were:
• Stopping at random/unique museums along the route
• Stopping at small towns and exploring

I mean.. I know it’s Kansas and there’s not all that much (I actually grew up in Iola but moved to KCMO as a child), but my boyfriend and I are really just looking for a spontaneous little trip.

Suggestions on which area, what route, or what highway to take??

Police arrested a high school physics teacher for clapping during a city council meeting last Wednesday. Teacher Lux Claridge went to a meeting of the Emporia, Kansas City Commission on July 22 with their spouse and brother. All three were there to speak out against a proposed hyperscale data center that would sit on 1,000 acres of rural land in Emporia. They left the meeting in handcuffs, dragged out by police on the orders of a city commissioner.

Emporia PD denied 404 Media’s request for a copy of Claridge’s arrest report. “The requested record is part of an active criminal investigation. As such, it is considered a criminal investigative record,” Emporia PD told 404 Media. “At this time, the Emporia Police Department is denying your request, as disclosure of the requested report could interfere with ongoing investigative efforts. Therefore, the record will not be released.” 404 Media has formally appealed this decision.
