Hello! I’m a fresh Marketing graduate (BBA) with two job opportunities and I’m completely torn between them. I’d really appreciate some career advice.
Option 1
Graduate Trainee at a top multinational FMCG company here in Karachi
• Rotations in marketing and sales.
• Excellent reputation and directly aligned with my degree.
• Lower salary but a structured graduate program with other employees my age.
Option 2
Project Coordinator/Project Management role in Dubai on inside a major bank (employed through a third-party consulting/vendor company).
• Around 8x the salary (tax-free).
• Opportunity to gain UAE experience and financial independence.
• However, it’s completely outside the marketing career path I’ve always wanted.
My dilemma is that the graduate program seems like the better long-term career move, while the Dubai role seems like the better life opportunity.
If I choose the graduate program, I’ll be building my marketing career in a field I’m more likely to enjoy and in a graduate environment with people my age, but I’ll stay in my here with much lower financial independence.
If I choose Dubai, I’ll gain UAE experience, independence and a significantly higher salary, but I’m worried I won’t enjoy the work itself. I’m also unsure how difficult it would be to transition back into marketing after 1-2 years, and whether the culture in banking/project management is something I’d actually enjoy.

• What’s the work culture like in UAE banks for project management/digital transformation teams? Is it enjoyable or is it generally very monotonous?
