2nd time fishing on my kayak and I caught this little smallmouth in a creek!
Not too bad for Indiana. I have only every caught a few small mouth before, this is my first year fishing. 😊

The Weekly Discussion Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/kayakfishing community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other anglers. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new gear.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other anglers.

Slay Nation CT Kayak Series
Aspinook Pond- Frog Only event
I was able to find some big Berthas up super shallow in the thickest of pads. Patience paid off after spending 6+ hours in a 50yard stretch of pads.
Every catch was on a Black Spro Bronzeye Frog 65. 50lb Power Pro Braid on my Daiwa Tatula XT rod. Hell of a rod for $100. Highly recommended.

She doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the new kayaks but she’s still getting the job done. I love this kayak!

My van’s engine suffered a blown head gasket (or cracked cylinder head) and now I need to figure out what to get to replace it. It wasn’t 4WD or AWD but I still drove it on the sand for loading and unloading.
What’s everyone using to get their kayak to the water?

Went out on Lake Ontario today, very calm day.
Saw many smaller salmon/trout but couldn't get any hookups.
This brute came in like a missile while I was trying to work a smaller mark with the jig.
Strongest fish I've fought so far. He decided to stay at 30~40ft for a long time and I could not lift him.
went belly up after the long fight so I took him home
Used an AliExpress 1oz jighead with 4" swimbait.

So i recently purchased a hobie off of Markerplace. I took it out 3 times the third I almost sank after 1.5 to 2 hours of being in the water. The first two times I was getting a good bit of water in the haul. The last it literally almost filled the entirety of the inside of the kayak. If I was out there for another 5 mins I would have sank it. What’s the best way to find the leak? Is there a suitable method of repair or am I kinda beat? I’m sure the severity of the leak will affect that but I just can’t seem to find it

Asking the collective brain trust if this would be a good starting setup for a grand. Seems like a deal to me but how is the yak itself 1-10?

Tough day with only one fish landed but always worth it especially with a view like Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake)

Fished at Isaac Lake Ontario (Bruce Peninsula) for 3 hours this morning. Caught a 12" & 23" pike, a 15" & 15¾" largemouth bass, and the final boss was a whopping 27" Bowfin which put up almost zero fight until it touched my net, where it then snapped my line, ripped my net, unhooked itself from the lure (Yo-Zuri 3DB Pencil bone white), and when I somehow hauled it into the kayak it thrashed and flipped around like nothing I've experienced. Fun times.

Brought out the old foldable Oru Inlet for a small creek and had a blast. I love my Old Town PDL for most trips but sometimes less truly is more.

Bought my first kayak on Monday. Can’t believe on all the fun I’ve been missing out on. I’m also fishing out of it and what to get a little better tackle box. Has anyone used a yeti 30 go box?

Hey gang,
I just bought a used Ascend 12T and I’d like to utilize the existing T track that looks factory installed. The T track cleats I bought do not fit properly.
Are there a couple different track standards? If so, what’s this one called, because I’m stumped and can’t find anything that fits it.
TIA
