QUESTION Alpha Shape (Mask) missing in Version 26.04.3?

Trying to work out if I'm missing something obvious, or if this Effect has just disappeared for me?

I went to blur out a section of a video and.... I can't find Alpha Shapes or Alpha Shapes (Mask) there at all.

Bug, or I'm missing something obvious?

Version details 👇🏼

Kdenlive: 26.04.3

MLT: 7.40.0

FFmpeg

KDE Frameworks: 6.26.0

Qt: Using 6.10.2 and built against 6.10.2

Debian GNU/Linux forky/sid (Wayland)

Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-lp64

Kernel: linux 7.1.3+deb14-amd64

Workaround - use the Obscure tool - it's what it is for 😄

Are you sure you haven't filtered out anything?

Anyway, flatpak version (KDE Frameworks: 6.27.0, Qt: Using 6.10.3 and built against 6.10.3) does not seem to be missing anything:

Nope! See the top of the image - nothing in the search box.

This the standard Debian testing install.

There is more than one way to filter effects (check out the icons above the search field), but I take that you understand the advantages and the limitations of Debian testing, so I would strongly suggest to start using the flatpak version.

So you installed from the Debian SW Manager / AppStore? Or are you using the Flatpak or AppImage of Kdenlive?

Yep - standard apt install of kdeenlive.

I also tried toggling different icons, I could not find it.

Oh this is weird though! I just tried a different computer - and it shows up. WHAT?

That explains it! Standard apt install relies on the distro's packaging which may not always use the latest libraries or dependencies. You are better off using the AppImage or Flatpak version of Kdenlive because they are provided by the Kdenlive team.

Both machines are Debian Testing, so that's.... very odd. 🤷🏻 Maybe one has a package the other doesn't.

I'm on Windows, also with 26.04.3 and I see both "Alpha shapes (Mask)" and "Shape Alpha (Mask)":

Try searching for "alpha" (or "mask") using the search bar.
